Ranking the American's venues: SMU or UConn at the top?

SMU has fewer votes than Temple.
Only 120 people from CT have voted but nearly 400 votes are for Gampel.

Once they fix the roof at Gampel it will be one of the best arenas in college basketball. Fans are loud and its a great place to watch a game. Just need to fix 'n roof.

Does Tulane play their home games outside? If they moved outside I bet that would suck for visiting teams.

More capacity would be nice too. They could easily fill a larger capacity, but that seems borderline impossible. The atmosphere in Gampel is electric. The XL center gets pretty energetic itself for big games, and it doesn't have nearly the historical vibe of Gampel that everyone loves and is proud of.

That's funny, I think of XL as more historic. You must be young enough that Gampel was always there.

Gampel is a way tougher venue for opponents than the XL center. No doubt about it.

Yeah, Gampel is tougher now. I think the HCC (XL) was tougher in the 90's. Back then, the biggest games were in Hartford and it rocked.

That was in the days of the GTown and Cause rivalries, which are long gone. College Baketball was fantastic then. True rivalries and players you knew.
