These look the most interesting to me.

Green are on Saturday. Red on Sunday.
  • Des Moines: #8 Ohio St vs #9 Fla. I think Buckeyes were underseeded & Fla over. We'll see.
  • Fresno: Central Tenn matchup between #7 Vandy & #10 MTSU. Hopefully a good crowd.
  • Fresno: #8 WVa vs #9 Tex. Another 1 & done for GG?
  • Raleigh: #8 Cal vs #9 Iowa. Cal should be good next year.
  • Can any mid-majors break through?
    • Raleigh: #5 St Bonny vs #12 FGCU.
    • Raleigh: #4 Georgia vs #13 Marist
    • Raleigh: #6 Ark vs #11 Dayton
    • Kingston: #6 RU at #11 Gonzaga
    • Kingston: #7 Green Bay at #10 Iowa St

I like the Bridgeport 8-9 game. I don't know much about K State this year, but they come from a good conference. Princeton has some talent and, well, they run the Princeton offense. :D

RU v. the Zags. Very tough first round game.

Interesting choices. I agree with ALL of them.

Still need to finish my bracket, but I'm giving it a rest for a while.

To answer your question, I think all of those matchups could be great games.

As for my upsets, I think Gonzaga could take down Rutgers. Rutgers has to be able to score, becasue the Zags can.

I think Iowa State could beat Green Bay only because the game is at Ames.

Dayton could upset Arkansas depending which Razorback team shows up.

Princeton over Kansas State and FGC could shock the Bonnie's.

Cant wait till the weekend.

It kind of bums me out that St Bonnie's and FGCU got matched up in the first round. They are both mid-majors that have the ability to beat some of the BCS schools that limped into the tournament on name-recognition. Instead one of them will take out the other, though it should be a very interesting game.

Not to look to far ahead, but IF both Delaware and Nebraska meet in the 2nd round I think the Cornhuskers could beat Delaware. The have a good scoring post and a great PG in Moore. As of right now i have Nebraska penciled in to win against Delaware.

And not to pick on the Lady Vols, but they are assuming they have to go thru Baylor to make it the FF. They still have to play a good Depaul team in Chicago. and again, depending on which Tennessee team shows up they could go home in the second round. IF not then they would have to match up with a good Nebraska team.

If you are able to attend, the UConn-Prairie View game would be the choice; That is if Prairie View brings their band.

Ah, for me it is Des Moines region 4-13 - Georgia Tech vs. Sacred Heart, if for no other reason than a work-place rivalry perspective. Me rooting for GT (for reasons known to most of the BYers if they have been paying attention) and a good friend/co-worker whose daughter is a SHU field hocky player rooming with a SHU basketball player. We have already started jawing a bit at each other. Good times!

Otherwise, nearly all of the 8-9 and 10-7 match-ups are intruiging. Usually one or two 10s upsetting 7's, even a few 12-5 upsets now and then. Beyond that, I think it is rare for a 13 to upset a 4 (sorry SHU) and even rarer for a 14, 15 or 16 to upset their first round games

My wildest dream? Georgia Tech meets Nebraska for a chance at the Final Four. That would mean neither Baylor or Tennessee would get there. I would be very happy, indeed. And at least part of my family would be happy.

Gonzaga isn't the same team as last year, and I don't think they have played against a defense like Rutgers. But yes, we need to score. I expect big games from Rushdan, and Oliver.
