We'd go in the morning and have the beach to ourselves about as far as we could see. Plenty of shells to pick because people aren't out there taking them all. Felt very remote and relaxing without being far from civilization. Not to mention when you have your vehicle right there in the beach it makes brining food and drinks and beach gear with you infinitely easier than carrying everything back and forth from the house to the beach.
