That Virginia win is one of the ones Syracuse is hanging its hat on, too. (Though, this might actually help them, since they also beat Miami). Syracuse has five top 50 wins, which is a lot for a bubble team. But all of them were at home and two were against Monmouth and Wake Forest. They also have three sub-100 losses. If that's a bubble resume, then we should be in the conversation should we win three of our remaining four. Two of our losses, both against top 100 teams, came without Adams. Flip the Auburn game alone and our RPI is 77 right now. It'll be interesting to see how many bids the ACC gets, because, while the conference didn't really perform any better than the Big 12 or Big East OOC, the eye test still tells you it's the best league. It wouldn't be a shock to see four or five ACC teams in the elite eight (as of now, I'd only bet on Louisville, UNC, and Duke). But some of these teams being floated for bids, like Syracuse, Wake, Clemson, and Georgia Tech, either aren't any good or don't have tournament worthy resumes (or both, in Syracuse's case). It'll be tough for the committee to justify taking all of those teams while maintaining perceived impartiality - a lot of these things they've said lately, like, "we're de-emphasizing RPI" sound good in theory but really are just an excuse to make things more subjective. I don't think it's a malicious bias, but the flaws in the selection committee are obvious. Pretty much every year we have found an ACC team with no business being in.
