Geno had an interesting comment on the spate of injuries to top women hoopsters in a recent interview. He said kids are starting to play basketbal at a much earlier age, when their bodies really can't handle the big-time stress. And they are playing year 'round, going to summer basketball camps, playing internationally and competing in off-season tournaments, etc. That's just asking for trouble.

This isn't new. It's been happening for years but for some reason, it's now getting more attention due to the fact household name players are suffering injuries. This is an issue in all sports, not just basketball.

We just had a thread about injuries, and seemed we are sort of in that world of 'nobody has a definitive answer' for the injuries. And Sveta and Shea and Bird and ... would all like to ask if they were just chopped liver, or are we just living in a world where media are actually paying attention to WCBB and stars and nobodies have been suffering injuries forever?

I mean really - without social media and much more exposure would we even have known what happens in games in Nov. in TX or Iowa back in 2000? If it happened to the evil empire or in Storrs we sat up and looked, and maybe we paid attention to Rutgers and ND and of course that meany Tara who disrespected Saint Lobo, but otherwise we waited for the NCAAs to see if there really were 64 other WCBB teams in the country and were fascinated to learn that some of their players could actually play the game.
