I didn't care for Kim Mulkey's comments after the game after not liking the fact that Texas pressed after she cleared her bench. What an ungracious winner.
Aston was teaching for the next level (NCAA Tourney). With a young team I didn't mind it. I felt like i understood what she was doing and for the most part it was effective. Baylor only won 75-64 because of a couple of late baskets by Texas press.
Side note: did anyone know on the last two official reviews for the ball, Baylor had a manager or someone in Baylor warm up standing behind the officials watching the video. I don't think I have ever seen that. Pretty brazen for Mulkey to do that.

Thats par for the course. I remember she said something similar after they beat GaTech in the 2012 Sweet 16.
Can anyone post a video.....
One was Cathy Inglese, and she got 100 hung on her next time out against Geno.I can think of two coaches that pressed when winning coach, Geno, cleared the bench.
Memory fuzzy and I haven't looked it up, but I believe the 107 beating had to do with (or at least "followed") a game where Cathy left her starters in for garbage time, after Geno cleared his bench. Perhaps in the final minutes of that loss? The only time Cathy's team got 100 hung on them (107 actually) was after they beat UConn at BC in January 1999 and a month later Geno kept UConn going full out at home. So unless Geno for some reason put his bench in for a close game and saw them lose the 78-66 game in Boston, that statement about Cathy doesn't seem to make sense. Perhaps another game? UConn did score 96 against BC in the 2002 BEast tourney.
No mention of anything like that in the accounts of the two games, though in the previews before the rout, Cash and company definitely said they wanted revenge for being made to look like a "Division II school" (Geno would have knocked that down a few levels in his comments) at Chestnut Hill in January 1999. A month later BC was sliding and UConn was healthier, and the team scored 107. In the earlier game, both teams just played hard to the end as BC desperately tried to hold off a comeback by the #2 ranked Huskies.Memory fuzzy and I haven't looked it up, but I believe the 107 beating had to do with (or at least "followed") a game where Cathy left her starters in for garbage time, after Geno cleared his bench. They have done pretty well. Prince was #16 Hoopgurlz and #10 Bluestar. Small was #14 overall. Johnson, Small and Prince were McD's AA. So they are not completely without talent.I'm very impressed with Baylor this year. They have no top 10 high school rated players on their team. No top 2o even I think. Texas has 2 (Mghee-Stafford and Ariel ATkins) this year. Mulkey is an amazing coach. She simply gets the absolute best out of each player. They will be a beast next year with the Duke transfer and Kalani Brown.
She probably shouldn't have said anything, HOWEVER to press when the winning team has emptied it's bench is, shall we sayOuch was she pissy. To lead off the postgame interview with the attack on the Texas coaching. She really wanted to win the game by 20 and was steaming that it got down to 11 because her reserves couldn't handle the ball. You won, Kim, and act like you've been there. The Horns were fighting to the end in a tourney game, and getting ready for a similar situation in the big Tourney.

?? I was at the "107" game in Hartford, and remember hearing later it was payback for something like my fuzzy "rub it in while my subs are in" memory, but it's been a long time....??No mention of anything like that in the accounts of the two games, though in the previews before the rout, Cash and company definitely said they wanted revenge for being made to look like a "Division II school" (Geno would have knocked that down a few levels in his comments) at Chestnut Hill in January 1999. Inglese did issue an apology after the 2002 BET loss to UConn, but it was just to say she was sorry that her team couldn't keep the margin closer than 42 points. Possibly something happened in the Husky win in the previous encounter, but there's no mention of it in the accounts and the final margin was just 3 points less than the biggest 2nd half lead.
Since when does a coach get to proclaim game over? When you put your reserves in you do so at your own risk. You have no right to dictate the opposing team's strategy. Kim's comments were bush league. It probably isn't up yet, but she basically said that most coaches realize that when the winning coach clears their bench that it is acknowledged that the game is over and you don't press the reserves. I italicized "acknowledged" because the way she said it reminded me of Bugs Bunny playing Queen Victoria and saying, "we are NOT amused".
Depends. If a game is moderately close like this one was (though 2o is very much on the edge), the reserves should be ready for anything if there's more than a minute left on the clock. But if a team is getting slaughtered by 30-50 and the opposing coach takes pity on them and puts the reserves in and the losing team goes into a full press, that is considered kind of bush and in a few cases a coach will yank the reserves, put the starters, in and tell them to run up the score more.Since when does a coach get to proclaim game over?
