This is a fascinating development. A step toward the Pac-12 getting in on the conference challenge phenomenon, and it’s probably a lot easier to get teams to agree to play in Vegas rather than traveling to the campuses.

Interesting how they’re doing this 3 men’s games and just the one WBB game. Would love to see other P12 women's programs get in on this.

As for the matchup, both teams have question marks for next season but I see Baylor as the clear favorite. Smith and Egbo will be a great interior duo. A lot will depend on Sedona Hansen for Oregon. No idea what to expect from her early on. She hasn’t played in two years. But Oregon has much more to replace than Baylor does.

Good for both programs and basketball! Oregon is gonna get wiped out. Baylor will lose Cox, Cooper and Landrum. There will be holes to fill all around. I would have to favor Baylor though with Richard, Smith, Egbo and Ursin returning. They at least will have some type of foundation.

Nike got into getting CBB in the west coast with the PK80 when Phil successful. Over thxgiving 2 years ago. 16 mens teams from 8 conference played in 2 8 team tourneys in Portland. They were all Nike schools and the biggest ones in each conference. Then for yhe women they had 2 games in Eugene with premier Nike schools: UConn, Oklahoma, MSU, and Oregon. Overall. It was succesful.

Comeon..Erin's back as the 1 returning starter, so we'll see. They will have 7 McDonalds AA plus, the reigning PAC12 6th player of the year Chavez, 6'6" senior Giomi, and 5 international players including Satou's younger sister who some say is just as good. Yhe cupboard will not be bare. So 14 players who could probably start in most wcbb programs. Let's see if Kelly can do his magic again.

What I like about this is it doesn't cordon off the women's game as part of a separate tourney/event. If you come to Vegas for three men's games and buy tix as a package, most will stay for the women too. I only wish this had been scheduled while Sabrina was still on the team - she would be a huge draw for something like this. All about getting casual CBB fans to realize there's a lot to enjoy about WCBB too.

Probably not a good idea to write off Oregon. Graves will have them ready. The roster is an embarrassment of riches and insane height with quick and talented guards. He will almost certainly return to a double post offense And start a 6’7” and 6’5”. Nyara like her sister has a range out to the three, can put the ball on the floor for the drive, and is taller and stronger than Satou.
Just a question of blending the talent, finding the natural leaders ( could be frosh as it was 4 years ago), and creating the chemistry. Gonna be a new team, new look, and a lot of fun.

I may have worded my post badly. I expect Oregon to be great again. Graves has built a great roster stacked with a lot of talent, athleticism and size. There will be a lot of inexperience next year blending a lot of new and talented faces, which will take some time. I was just saying I think early in the year Baylor will probably be favored but it should be a great matchup that could go either way. Both teams have a lot of talent and inexperience which should make for a fun game.

Some of the Oregon fans have borrowed a page from last year’s edition of Mississippi State fans. Anything that doesn’t sound like unmitigated praise will be pounced on with a full length essay

Ha ha...no I see what the poster meant by “gonna get wiped out” as in not in by Baylor in that game but as in losing 4 starters that are more than merely starters but the backbone of this team. Yeah... there is no telling what that really means..Sabrina is a generational player... a force of nature...and in combo with Ruthy and Satou... well...you don’t replace it really. I give Stanford the pre season nod with AZ and OS in good shape with key returners but key losses. Ducks should be battling in first division PAC 12 and make the NCAA tourney some seed or other. Depend on too many unknowns at this point but don’t expect ND level of collapse.

For the record I wasn’t the one who said “wiped out.” I just said they have more to replace than Baylor. I don’t think anyone is “counting out” Oregon or saying they won’t make the tournament, just cognizant of the impending personnel turnover.

Wiped out may have been a bad word to say. Their starting 5 will certainly will face a pretty significant turnover. The overall talent on the roster isn't depleted, its now inexperienced and youthful, which isn't always bad but there are many questions.

So I guess we all agree. :)
December likely too early for the less experienced team in this match up. My first thought when I first read about the match up anyway.

I wonder will Baylor seek another grad transfer to play the point guard position.

My error on the misattribution. There is a case in the back of my mind that worries me sometimes... ND going from penthouse to outhouse despite having a long term top notch program with (presumably) 5* type players in waiting. Didn't happen so... a bit worrisome. Sometimes the magic just ain't there...

I like Oregon's incoming freshman class a lot. There's no Aliyah Boston like center to anchor them.. but that backcourt will be productive early and very strong in a few years. SC looked at PaoPao a good bit early on. I think Watson and Dugalic are pretty good forwards as well, both are very skilled.

Kinda setting an impossible bar there, eh? I feel like that statement is true for just about every team, every year? There are very, very few post players who have the kind of impact Boston has had as a frosh!

Last time Kelly brought a big class in was Sabrina's/Ruthy's which had 7 players incoming, 3 of which were 5 stars, Ionescu (ESPN #4 - who infamously came late to the class well after signing day), Campisano (ESPN #14), & Ruthy (ESPN #40). They had two 4 stars (Yaeger ESPN #92 & McGwire #98) and two 3 stars (Giomi & Woods). Out of those 7 they found 3 starters as Freshman, 2 who have scored 4,814 pts and counting, 2 have stayed on as subs, and 3 xfrd (including starter McGwire). Next year the Ducks will also have 7 Freshman, five 5 stars from the #1 2020 class, plus 2018 5 star Prince (ESPN #8), and Satou's younger sis Nyara, also from 2018 class. I wouldn't be surprised if there are 2 or more that might meet a pretty high bar like Sabrina and Ruthy did. R. My guess is we will have 3 Freshman starters from that group and some quality subs, much like South Carolina loaded up this year. Hopefully they take them to at least an Elite 8, like the 2016 class. Of course that was coming off a WNIT semifinal year vs this year's possible title run.

I’m speaking on there being no true center at all. Oregon’s class is well balanced and has nearly every position covered except for a true center.

I still love the class though and Oregon has Sedona Prince down low, who I can’t wait to see return to the court.

Stanford better worry about todays game. Should be a easy game for Stanford btw. I have to LOL when everyone thinks Oregon is going to fall back to the Paul Westhead years of only 2 wins in the conference. I think there are two to three current bench players at Oregon that would have started for many of the Pac-12 teams this year and would have done quite well. Chavez and Jaz Shelley come to mind.

+ Nyara Sabally (6'5"), assuming she will be past the injuries that have kept her off the court for two years now (a big if, admittedly). It seems like ages ago now, but she was the MVP of the last two FIBA European Tournaments in which she participated for Germany, and was considered (by some) an even better prospect than her sister. What that really means for next year is of course yet to be determined. The questions surrounding Prince are (I hope) fewer, although sitting out two years can't help. She has been practicing with the team at full speed since January and apparently has been (Graves's words) "unstoppable," "a game changer."
But, again. . . .

One of the more interesting/surprising/peculiar aspects of the Baylor game will be the fact that Oregon may actually be taller than the Bears, with a roster than includes players at 6'7", 6'6", 6'5" (x2), and 6'4" (x2)--not quite Oregon State tall, but getting there.

BTW, Cooper could petition the NCAA for an additional year of eligibility due to her injury at Tenn. she’s played 3 seasons, 1 each at Tenn, SC and Baylor. She sat a year each at Tennessee (injury) and sat a year at SC due to transfer policy...so Baylor may already have the “transfer point guard” though Copper could also transfer to ND who also likes and needs a transfer point guard next year..
