So I really thought ND was gonna dominate this tournament and put up record numbers. They may very well still win, but it highly likely won't be with a record margin-of-victory.

Here are the all-time highs (see a trend :) ?) :
  • 2016 Connecticut (+239) 39.8 avg
  • 2010 Connecticut (+214) 35.7
  • 2013 Connecticut (+208) 34.7
  • 2015 Connecticut (+197) 32.8
  • 2000 Connecticut (+187) 31.2
  • 2002 Connecticut (+161) 26.8
  • 1982 Louisiana Tech (+158) 31.6
  • 2014 Connecticut (+156) 26.0
Baylor is already at 153 pts (38.3 avg), which means if they win it all, they surely will crack the top 8, and likely the top 6. Impressive!

ND is at +77 and would need to win its last 3 games by 26 pts each.

I don't have the stats on the largest margin of victory to not win a title. :)

I don't know how to access these stats, but I am surprised that 2010 UConn has such a high margin-of-victory, and 2009 is not on the list. As I recall it, the 2010 championship game was won by only six points, and 2009 UConn dominated throughout the tournament.

Considering that only 1 player on the starting 5 was over 6’0”, that 2010 team was very stingy. Very stingy, indeed.
