His profile on Baylor's site credits him as an ace recruiter for the Lady Bears. Could be a significant loss.

Duke just lost their head of recruiting to OSU. She played under Coach P, and is basically making a lateral move. Maybe this was discussed elsewhere, I saw it on the Baylor board.

Coincidentally, Brittney Griner's AAU coach. I'm not suggesting any kind of rule breaking, btw, this stuff happens all the time. Sometimes mothers or fathers get hired as well and it's all permissible by the NCAA. Don't buy a recruit a $50 sweatshirt at the school book store, though.

This may be good news .............For UCONN. Now maybe we can get more of those Elite recruits out of the State of Texas since Baylor loses its Asst Head Coach and top recruiter. It might make things a little easier for us. Baylor and UT are tough recruiting rivals as is.

Hopefully Mulkey can hire someone with better ties to Turner than McKinney had. :)

Baylor hasn't landed a top 10 talent since Sims, if I'm not mistaken. Doesn't seem like McKinney has been tearing it up on the recruiting trail.

If not Baylor, which team is the favorite for Turner? Could it be Texas?

Make that two. Rehka Patterson also resigns. Looks like Mulkey is doing some spring cleaning. It was eithe them or the leather pants.

Have to wonder if one of the new hires will have strong DFW Elite ties.

how good are the DFW teams... sometimes the AAU pipeline runs its course. I thought it may have slowed down when the guy got hired at Baylor

Dallas has soooooo much talent. Many of those girls are college ready.

Turner and McCowan are teaming with Baylor signee, PG Mackenzie Calvert, on T-Jack, this summer. Hire THAT coach.

Kim needs to have room on staff for the new AAU coaches of her players.

Although not technically against the rules, I really don't like it when schools hire AAU coaches in order to get a specific recruit. In fact, there are a lot of things that are violations that I consider much less unethical. It's basically bribing someone who is an influential figure in a kid's life.

Absolutely, Alex. Ethical, moral and the NCAA rarely belong in the same sentence.

I agree it is a problem, but how exactly would you enact a solution?

Imagine the NCAA trying to pass a rule that Colleges are prohibited form hiring AAU coaches? Any chance that could be legal?

So try to address it from the player side. Can the NCAA prohibit a player from going to a college that happens to have a coach on staff who had coached them in AAU? Even if this reach is possible, what if the timing is flipped.? If the player signs then the coach is hired, can the NCAA force the school to renege on the scholarship offer?

Again, I'm not missing the problem, but the solution isn't jumping out at me.

Calvert hasn't signed as she is part of the 2014 class; just a verbal commitment.

Andy hiring the player's mother some years ago was the most eye-opening.

The AAU bit doesn't bother me as much - maybe not very ethical, but chances are you are getting a good coach. Andy got a former player who sat on the bench looking like a deer in a headlight.

Or, how about the advantage of Terry Williams-Flaunoy - who doesn't need to hire her brother to get the advantage.

One possibility is that a kid simply can't sign with a school within X years of that school hiring a former AAU coach. There are plenty of other schools for the kid to choose from, and on the school/coach front, such a hire would then be strictly because s/he was the right person for the job and wanted to take it.
