Love it

Quote: Walking around the arena prior to tipoff, you can check out all of the banners that acknowledge past championships and All-American players. UConn has a rich tradition in basketball.

surprised to see duke at #31

Rutgers (#335): Visiting the Louis Brown Athletic Center, affectionately known on Rutgers' campus as the RAC, on a cold winter night reminds one of what Russia looked like during the 1950s. A squat, trapezoidal concrete structure set in the middle of a large empty field, the facility doesn't exactly inspire hope and excitement as one approaches it during a snowy evening.

I'll bet the B1G just can't wait to have such a great program join them.

Detrick Gym is better than the RAC?

Also, they managed to pick one of the most exciting games and best atmospheres of the past few years.

Not quiet an empty field anymore as I was surprised to see new dorms and I think their new business school next to the RAC. Of course, it still feels isolated as Rutgers' main campus is really 4 separate campuses and none are within walking distance of each other. As for the RAC itself, other than UConn winning, not much to write home about. Reminds me of the old UConn campus from the 1980's, pre-UConn 2000.

Cameron Indoor is a cramped dour dump, although they keep it respectable. Back when I played baseball for Duke in the 60's our locker room was in Cameron. Almost at bad as HS--then again, I was a pretty bad baseball player with a 1/8 athletic scholarship. Duke could easily afford a new 15,000 seat indoor facility and should build one ASAP. Leave Cameron for volleyball and women's hoops. Only retired BB number in the 60's was Dick Groat, #10--the sole banner in the place.

Love Gampel but many have complained about the concrete benches that substitute as seats for the fans. Not terribly comfy. After the practice facility is completed, i'd love to see Gampel get a face lift. I think it was built in the early 90's so some fluffing would not be inappropriate...
