For much of the season Bria Hartley has been criticized for committing a lot of turnovers. SHe leads the team. However, in the last 4 games where turnovers have become a problem (particularly in the 2 losses) it isn't Hartley coughing it up. Her turnover per game average is almost halved from her season average. Over the last 4 games she turned the ball over only 7 times. She's 3rd in turnovers among the 6 regular rotation players. Considering how often she is handling the ball, I think that's pretty good.
Most of the turnovers (25 of the 48 by the 6 players in the rotation) are from Hayes (16) and Faris (9). Doty and Mosqueda-Lewis each had 5 and Dolson had 6.

We have a true point guard coming in next year which will put board favorite to the bench and Hartley can then be all she can be.:)

I don't think we should rush to name a freshman as the anointed savior of the PG position...I think it will be helpful for her to watch Caroline and Bria before she has to come in and run the offense by herself. We're lucky to be in that position, actually. If she had to come in and start right away it might not be the best situation. Plus, if Caroline is back and healthy next year I am betting she is better than she is this year.

Interestingly, though, when Geno gets a quality PG, he does have a tendency to get them starting ASAP. Both Jen and Renee were starters as freshmen. When Geno's got a good one, he doesn't hesitate to put her right in and play through the learning difficulties.

UConn's program has progressed a few light years since Ms Rizzotti was a freshman. Still, a very good team should be fine with a freshman at the helm; Unlike, say, the 2005 team.
