This is a riot. Those of you who are bitchin' and moanin' that UConn's bracket is softer than the rest are undoubtedly very naive and without foundation. In reality UConn's bracket was actually the toughest. Why? Because it included the #3 or #4 best team in the country according to USA Today and AP 3/13/17 ratings. That team was Maryland and had they been victorious vs. Oregon, not a peep would have been sounded. But since Oregon (an unranked, 10th seed) won, the bracket must be soft. At tourney time, better yet game time, national rankings and bracket seeds mean absolutely nothing. It's win or go home. Oregon is this years Cinderella team (generally speaking we have at least one every year). No one gave them much of a chance, but they beat the 9th ranked team in the country (Duke), and then Maryland. rankings source: 2017 Women's College Basketball Rankings and Polls for Week 1 - ESPN
