Because it included the #3 or #4 best team in the country according to USA Today and AP 3/13/17 ratings. That team was Maryland and had they been victorious vs. Oregon, not a peep would have been sounded. But since Oregon (an unranked, 10th seed) won, the bracket must be soft. At tourney time, better yet game time, national rankings and bracket seeds mean absolutely nothing. It's win or go home. Oregon is this years Cinderella team (generally speaking we have at least one every year).
