B-17 Flying Fortress crashes at Bradley AP

oh man this is terrible.

I've been on a huge WWII history kick lately. just finished re-reading "A Higher Call" about one of the crews of a B-17 and the german pilot who spared them (great read btw - highly recommend it).

I remember when they were doing a tour near me, and I saw one of the "four motors" right over my head in NNJ. There aren't many left that are still flying.

Hope everyone is OK

Casualties are 13 on board and a civilian on ground. Plane got 800 feet and then dropped. Crashed into a maintenance building.

Local news said 6 people were taken to a Hartford hospital. 2 people were said to have died. No new word on more, if any.

One runway will open at 1:30.

Looked like it crashed into a fuel tank, but they said later it was part of the deicing operations, not fueling.

Terrible news. Shows you had quickly things can happen. I flew out of Bradley a little after 7:00 am this morning. Just another normal day at the airport. By the time I get settled in Florida I heard the news. That causality count is horrible.
