Just catching up and reading what K-State posted on their page. Sad but also hopeful. Young lady has been dealing with this knee situation for two years. Hoping that this procedure and rest helps with recovery.

Durn.

I'm wondering what the injury is and which knee. I read several articles, one mentioned that she'd torn her right ACL in high school, but none said which knee she was having surgery on now. I'm also curious what sort of injury has been lingering for two years that requires two surgeries, the second of which keeps her out for a year. It's not just cutting out some damaged stuff, but correcting something structural.

It must be the right knee. That’s the one she had the big brace on. I’m assuming she will redshirt this year so will play the following year. Probably not a bad move. If she needed to have knee Surgery anyway she can do it now and take her time getting back. Best of luck to her. She’s a good one.

beyond bummed, this was gonna be an all-american and I think many ppl woulda started to notice her on a bigger stage. Also think she woulda gone 2 in the Wnba draft, now she has to recover and wait in a stacked draft class for 2024. Boy the wbb Gods are cruel this year, please bubble wrap Clark Boston and Jones.

She can but doesn’t need to red shirt. She gets the Covid year

Doesn't she have to red shirt so that she can use her COVID year for 2023-2024? I thought she was a senior this past season and was planning on using her COVID year for this 2022-2023.

Had time to check the roster briefly. She was listed as a junior last season, so my recollection was wrong.

So, whether she does/doesn't use a red shirt seems moot. Unless there's a reason for her to extend her college career beyond the 2023-2024 is my guess.

When calculating these, the easiest thing to do is just pretend that 2020-21 did not exist.

2018-19: 1st Medical Redshirt
2019-20: Freshman Eligibility
2020-21: COVID season, does not count
2021-22: Sophomore Eligibility
2022-23: 2nd Medical Redshirt
2023-24: Junior Eligibility
2024-25: Senior Eligibility

She could wait until the year that she turns 25 before leaving college.
