Nice article. Maybe she'll surprise us. Can the Horns compete with Baylor, TAMU, and Oklahoma? How about Texas Tech?

Very interesting article. Thanks for the link, Pap.

It sounds like Aston is a big step forward for Texas. And, yes, she can recruit in TX.

I hope she really gets that program back to elite status.

maybe she's not quite as bad a choice as some thought. perhaps starting from the ground up, so to speak, is a good thing...

A dog bites man story would be "Head coach is unmotivated, disorganized, and dispassionate."

This was rather the puff piece.

And she's coming on with this Texas recruiting focus in a year that happens to suck for Texas talent, and it looks like she's going to have to fight to keep the two Texas kids Coach G got to commit. Meanwhile, on a national level, the class of 2013 is talented and uncommitted. Doesn't sound like she's building a staff to go that route.

Hoping for the best, still expecting the worst. Still think Michigan, Auburn, and Illinois made better hires.

I know that the Texas fans on this board are pretty bummed about the
Aston hire, and I have no rational reason to think that they are wrong.

But deep in my bones I have the feeling that she will prove to be
successful in recruiting talent to UT and will lead the Longhorns
back into final four type discussions.

Without knowing who St. John's will hire as KBA's replacement, my
bones also tell me that SJU will slip back into sub - mediocrity.

We will see.

who says we are bummed. she is a great choice as head coach for Texas. many of the diehard Texas fans who have been around since the early 80's that completely quit going to games 2 years ago will be coming back like my wife & I. she like Conradt care about promoting the game and their fans. the one we had was as cold as ice and always in hiding. hardly ever saw her on the news or any media here in austin. Karen has been far more approachable in the news & media than that other coach that was all the years she wasting everyones time & money.

i say "hookem horns" for coach Karen Aston

I guess we'll see in two or three years if "approachable" turns in to "winner." If no, there'll be some serious horn hookin'.
