Much better than last year, and slighty up on 2016.

Albany at 10.7 k, outdid Bridgeport, while Lexington was #2 but I'd still say slightly disappointing 5700. The 3-year experiment in Lexington was a big failure I'd say.

ROUND 1
2015 = 4655
2016 = 4414 (- 5%)
2017 = 4514 (+ 2%)
2018 = 5074 (+12%) . [+9% v 2015]

ROUND 2
2015 = 4679
2016 = 4578 (- 2%)
2017 = 4802 (+ 5%)
2018 = 5052 (+ 5%) . [+8%]

ROUND 3
2015 = 6777
2016 = 7282 (+ 7%)
2017 = 4997 (-31%)
2018 = 6434 (+29%) . [-5%]

ROUND 4
2015 = 5603
2016 = 5636 (+ 1%)
2017 = 4442 (-21%)
2018 = ()

TOURNEY AVG PER SITE

2015 = 4972
2016 = 4888 (- 2%)
2017 = 4670 (- 4%)
2018 = ()

Bridgeport was a sell-out so they did as well as they could given the size of the venue. With Uconn involved in the regional, a 10K+ venue in the NE is preferable.

Good point. Attendance was a smidge below capacity (possibly no-shows), but indeed BP was limited.

Anyone know why teams like ND and Texas and Stanford, etc draw so poorly in the early rounds?

I can't be specific, but can offer some "contributing factors" that are doubtless part of it.
- The time of games may not be ideal - either in general or for the area (traffic, church on Sunday, etc)
- The teams don't draw all that well for the regular season
- Regular Season attendance for some programs includes all season tickets, not actual fannies through the door.
- We saw when we were at RU that some fans resented not being able to sit in "their" seats (reserved for another team) and passed on coming (especially since they could watch on TV)
- Which would bring up the fact that fans could stay at home and watch on quality TV. Depending on the school regular season coverage on TV and / or the internet might be spotty or poor quality.
- Some fans can't afford the extra expense
- There isn't a significantcasual bunch of folks that would not normally attend a WBB game but will attend a first round tournament game. As the team goes deeper than the first 2 rounds, if truly local, you will pick up casual fans, although being WBB unfortunately there are not necessarily a lot of them.

Have they already decided the regions for next year? Would love to see them try somewhere larger for UConn. Especially since I see it being a little more competitive next year with the losses of Gabby & Kia.

Don’t know about the other 3, but Albany is up again for the Northeast Regional.

As for a larger arena, the TUC in Albany has a seating capacity over 13,000. There were lots of empty seats in the upper level.
