It is time to recognize the AAC road leads to a dead-end and bankruptcy for the UCONN basketball programs. Bankruptcy is defined as significantly decreased revenues, no NCAA tourney bids and coupons and gimmicks to get fans to attend games against opponents that don't matter. Have you been to a men's basketball game recently? Enough said!
We all know the story of how we chased the football dream at the expense of basketball. Well, we are never going to be an SEC football team and we will not be invited to the ACC because they locked the doors after their last expansion. A return to the Big East is never going to happen because they don't need us and are doing well with their current configuration.
How do we get out of this situation? For star trek fans, we need to apply a James T. Kirk move in the Kobyashi Maru scenario to turn a no-win situation into a winning situation. That move for UCONN is a conference change to the Atlantic 10 with traditional rivals close to home and great basketball across the top half of the conference. A package deal with UCONN and Temple could make this attractive for the A-10 bringing regional competition and fans back to UCONN games. This is an all sports move with football remaining in the AAC for good reasons.
We are and forever will be a basketball first school. UCONN administration does not understand that but those of us truly connected to this fine institution know who we are and its time we be who we are. A-10 brings us back from the abyss of the AAC. You know this is the right move. If not, take the AAC challenge and name all the teams in the conference within 60 seconds. Good Luck!
This is my case for taking charge of the future rather than letting things happen to you. Breaking up is hard to do for those of that have done it, but breakups are necessary to get to the future you are suppose to have. AAC is not our future; it is our tombstone.
Make the move to the ATLANTIC 1O NOW!!!!!!!
So say me!
So say you???
So say you all??????
