Athlon Pre Season Ranking

I think we are going to be better than most expect this upcoming year. I'm thinking 8 or 9 wins can be a reality. With that said and seeing what teams are ahead of us in the rankings...Syracuse, BC, among others and I can easily make an argument that we could be ranked around 65 to start the season. But time will tell. The end of the year ranking is much more important and with that being said I'm hoping for a top 50 finish at the end of the year. Go Huskies!!!

Not sure if this has been posted already. I don't think it has. UConn coming in at #80, not too bad. WAY too high on USF, IMO, ranking them at 32. I think USF should be a decent team, but to have them almost cracking the top 25 is bizarre

I don't know, USF was putting up a lot of yards at the end of the season and their running back looked unstoppable. I think Teggart is a better coach than we're giving him. I think the AAC could have 4 teams ranked at the end of the season (Houston, Temple, Navy and USF).

I'd be shocked if Navy was in the top 25 at the end of the season.

Houston has a brutal start to their season: Oklahoma at NRG, FCS, @ Cincinnati, UConn, @Navy. Good luck with that.

Temple will not be as good but has a favorable schedule: Army, Stony Brook, @ Penn State, Charlotte, SMU - they will fold in second half but could open 5-1 without even being good.

If USF holds serve with Towson, Northern Illinois and @Syracuse... they get FSU at home... Cinci could not draw it up better - win or lose USF is going into Cinci dead in the water.

Navy? I think it's more likely we have no teams ranked. USF is being wildly overrated. Houston isn't going to be what they were last year. Navy will fall way off without Reynolds, and Temple lost a lot of players.

Why would Houston not be what they were last year other than blind hate for the AAC?

Who knows. CFB is weird like that. Who would have thought that the Buckeyes would struggled last season after Cardale Jones championship run and their returning so much talent? Houston should definitely be an underdog against OU, and a blowout loss could lead to a couple more early losses. They haven't done themselves any favors with their schedule, and now they're playing with a target on their back.

The law of averages. It's hard to do.

Its definitely hard to do but they return the most important pieces and other than the OU game will probably be favored in every game on their schedule. Nowhere near enough reasoning here to just flat out say "Houston won't be what they were last year" definitively like that.

And FWIW the OSU reference doesn't work here, they still went 13-1. People were hard on them because they thought they'd be blowing every team out by 21+. Nobody is expecting that here

We have a very good chance to finish highest of any AAC team in the rankings. This will be a breakout year for the Huskies.

Source? :D

Unless it is stated in a tweet, it ain't happening.
