Whoa there!

View attachment 61785

That'll be an emphatic yellow card for even implying that not all fans of all teams are welcome to post threads and expound at length upon their thoughts. This is what our General WBB forum is here for! Speaking for myself, I have even more respect for the fans of non-elite teams who stand by their teams and remain active through thick and thin. A lot better than some of the fair-weather fans of certain other teams that took a huge nosedive recently.

And it's a second yellow card for just the bad look of pronouncing death on a team that just last year knocked off the team that thrashed UConn by 18 in Storrs. ASU may be having a down year (a little early to know just how down after a sample size of one game), but as Oregon found out last year, and Oregon State the year before, and far too many others to count, you discount the Devils at your peril.
Actually last year ASU beat both Oregon and Oregon State in Tempe over the same weekend. Unbelievable weekend.

A real nice win for the Sun Devils against the Trojans. After grabbing a 15-point lead the Sun Devils suddenly forgot their defensive chops and made it a real nail biter down the stretch.

ASU freshman played really well as Simmons lead all scorers with 20 and Levin'gs continually hit key shots. Once again senior Bre' yanna Sanders was clutch throughout the game.

The Lumberjacks easily handled Eastern Washington 89 to 60. Still without three starters from last year the Jacks showed they will have depth when they're at full strength.

Regan Schrenk who played 32 minutes running the point is on my personal triple double watch for the year. In the first game of the season she pulled down 18 rebounds. In this game she was also the leading rebounder for the Jacks with 8 and added 10 points and 7 assists.

If she hits the triple double it would be the second one in NAU history.

(January 9, 2020) – Redshirt junior Caitlin Malvar posted the first triple-double in program history Thursday night, finishing with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in the Northern Arizona women's basketball win.

Wonder what happened to Malvar it doesn't appear she's on the this year.

The NAU Lumberjacks face Eastern Washington on the road for the second game in three days. Despite NAU's superior talent one would wonder about a the possibility of a) a letdown or b) the ability of the Eagle coaching staff to make adjustments that would provide Eastern Washington with an opportunity for a big upset.

Tip off for the Jacks versus Eagles game is 1:00 p.m. MST

There is a live stream.

NAU and Eastern Washington will face off again on Sunday at 1:05 p.m., with the game available on Pluto TV and WatchBigSky.com. The Lumberjacks will look for a sweep in their first experience with the Big Sky's new schedule that features teams facing each other twice in the same weekend.

"When you are playing back to back games, you have got to rotate people and try to save some legs," Payne said. "We are going to be rotating people tomorrow and just really hoping that we can start where we left off today"

At the half Jack's firmly in control. 41-28. Schenk with 10 points 5 rebounds and 4 assists remains on triple double watch.

Eagles plagued by 13 turnovers in part due to five steals by the Lumberjacks. Lumberjacks have 6 made threes while the Eagles remain scoreless from beyond the three-point stripe.

Jack's overcome a poor shooting afternoon by last week's Big Sky player of the week Emily rodenbaugh. She suffered through a one for 10 shooting afternoon although she did pull down 10 boards.

JC Bailey has a double double Nakai had 21 points and Regan Schank had another fabulous game. NAU 69-Eastern Washington-55.

In a critical late season contest the Jacks take on Eastern Washington, led by former Sun Devil Jaime Loera.

This will be a great match up between two 5th year point guards - Loera v. Regan Schenck, the all time assist leader for NAU.

In a critical late season contest the Jacks take on Eastern Washington, led by former Sun Devil Jaime Loera.

The Jacks overcame significant injuries that rival the Huskies to beat Eastern Washington 61 to 55. In the battle of point guards my first observation is that was clear how important these fifth year seniors are to their teams.

When Jamie and Regan got a breather on the bench any semblance of offensive productivity evaporated. As the score indicates this was a game with a premium on buckets and while the Jack's opened with a 22-point quarter and the Eagles responded with a 20-point second quarter as each point guard hit the bench the offense ground to a halt.

That said in the battle of point guards Regan clearly prevailed. Jamie's ASU offensive training showed, she was 0 for 10 from the floor. Regan had to pick up scoring with leading scorer Montana Oltrogge unavailable and freshman sensation Sophie Glancey limited due to injuries to both hands. Regan responded with 20 points to go with her two rebounds and four assists. Reagan however did have an eye-opening 8 turnovers mostly due to Jamie's tremendous on ball defense.

Currently in second place the Jacks control their own destiny to a first round by in the conference tournament. With that said it'll be very difficult for the Jacks to win out with their current injury situation.

Tomorrow's game at 1:00 p.m. is the final home game of the season against Idaho. Unfortunately this game conflicts with the 12:30 Husky Villanova game so unless the Jacks go into double overtime or the Huskies dispose of the Wildcats in record time I'll miss this game. The Jacks end the season on the road against Northern Colorado and doormat Weber State.

One note of interest Reagan Schenck sits at 192 assists on the season so she will surely top the 200 mark. As I indicated in a previous post Regan is the all-time assist leader at NAU currently standing at 654.

Jacks end season tied with Sac State in Montana State but are the number one seed as a result of the tiebreakers. While Sac State and Montana State end the regular season with an L the Jacks take care business on the road against Weber State.

Behind senior point guard Regan Schenck's 22 points the Jacks advance to the Big Sky championship game for the second season in a row. Schenck the NAU career leader in assists and minutes played also dished out six assists as she hit four of five from beyond the arc. Going in today's game Reagan's 219 assists on the season had her in third place behind Clark and Muhl

The Jack woman's victory over the Eagles followed the thrilling men's victory last night. The men hit a three as time expired to defeat the Eagles 81 to 80.

The Jacks will play the winner of the Sacramento State - Portland State game..
