Overall this game was slightly better performance than the SCSU game. Our bigs definitely need to play better and so does Purvis.

Hamilton--Our best and most talented player already. He is fluid, smooth, and has the intangibles of a great player. 12 points 12 rebounds 6 assists speaks for itself. He is a mixture of Roscoe, Lamb, and Rip who is the key to another championship

Cassell Jr- Another great performance by him. 18 points and our most consistent outside shooter who is key to spacing the floor. He is already the second best guard on the team after Boat.

Boat- Overall solid game 17 point 3 rebounds 4 assists. Needs to be patient with his teammates and be a more calming influence.

T-Sam- solid play off the bench exactly what was expected and is a calming influence.

Purvis- He was off again and turning the ball over like crazy. Has no confidence in his shot and drives the ball every time making it easy for defenders to play him.

I hope this slump by Purvis is temporary.

Purvis is working off some rust - patience.

If there were 27 high-school seniors better than Daniel Hamilton, I'd like to see some proof. He's the most talented player in the program.

Cassell is better than I expected. (I didn't expect much.)

I'm not sure Lubin is going to be much of a factor this year - still not a particularly good rebounding team.

Here's why recruiting is so important - we're really going to miss Daniels at the four and we may really miss Hamilton on the wing next season.

For this to be a slump, it must be implied that he's played exceptional for a period of time, right?
He was decent as a freshman at NCSU, but not great (I'd argue Omar had a better freshman yr w/o looking at stats......
I think we (and the media) have had too high of expectations for him. He's uber athletic, but not 1&done skill wise, he needs more patience from us.

I've been saying it since we signed him, Hamilton is special and it's a joke he wasn't a McD all-American. As per usual our frontcourt is wayyyy behind our backcourt, the good news is I doubt there is a better backcourt in the country than ours. Purvis is very rusty as should be expected, not too worried on that front. As many of us thought spacing should be a bit of an issue but Cassell is a good shooter and Boat and Hamilton will hit enough to keep defenses honest, this is an area Omar could really help us with. If Hamilton sticks around for a second season he will be a first team all-American type player, yes he's that good.

I'm not panicking over 2 exhibitions, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little concerned after beating 2 D2 teams by single digits. I need to temper my own "repeat" expectations and just hope we make the tournament and then anything can happen. A terrible Holy Cross beat this Assumption team by 30 on Friday. This is a year where playing in a bad AAC conference might actually help us get a bid, because I think we take our lumps early then steamroll our conference slate. On a positive note I am pleasantly surprised by newcomers Cassell Dos and Daniel Hamilton.

Take it easy on predicting guys going to the nba next season... You first said Purvis was gone after this season and now your saying Hamilton might join him.

Its incredibly hard to make it to the league. Both Purvis and Hamilton have the talent and size but I think they have at least 1 maybe even 2 more years after this season before going to the league.

But I am really excited about Hamilton's production thus far even if its just preseason!

Any of the Purvis to the league after this season talk was ridiculous, the NBA isn't coveting 6'3 guards with small wingspans and a set shot. Purvis will be good but there is no chance of him leaving after this year, Hamilton is a completely different case and always has been. He's a legit 6'7 with a tight handle, he is exactly what NBA teams look for in a shooting guard. Enjoy him while he's here because two years is the most we will be seeing him.

That's why Fishy said "we may really miss Hamilton" and not "we will." I think Hamilton is a stud like I said earlier and if he keeps playing like this no reason to think he won't jump to the NBA. Jeremy Lamb is the only other freshman I can think of that was this good as freshman and it took Lamb a while while Hamilton has been good from the jump.

My top two observations from today:

When you use GameTracker on an iPhone, it uses only the first three letters of the team name, so we were 'UCO' and Assumption was 'ASS'. I'm bummed I didn't follow the Assumption-Holy Cross game on my iPhone, because the team abbreviations would have probably read "ASS HOL" - I also hope that they don't play Coker.

Although I didn't buy Goodman's DHam analysis, I was skeptical that he really averaged 6 assists a game in his last two years of HS, just because HS stat keeping can be a bit sketchy. I'm not skeptical any more. I do have confirmation, though, that Goodman is an iPhone abbreviation of Assumption.

People are drawing way too much from these two exhibitions. Two years ago, Napier was a mess against the first couple D-2 teams he saw while Omar Calhoun was establishing himself as the best pure scorer in program history. Alex Oriakhi was pulling down 20 rebound games and drawing comparisons to Okafor and Adrien back in 2009. My gut tells me the posts about Hamilton being the best player on this team will look similarly reactionary by season end.

It's a Sunday morning game against a D-2 school. If you think the game against Texas three weeks from today will bare a vague resemblance to what we saw a couple hours ago, I think you're being a prisoner of the moment.

Poor free throw shooting team so far? Only out rebounded Assum. By one today, with 35. SCjr & Ham have been good.

First time seeing Hamilton and he was really impressive. He can shoot, handle the ball, distribute and played good defense.

On another note, I hope we never get those refs again. It was a freaking exhibition game so let the players play. They were consistent but they were calling every touch and bump it seemed like which completely ruined the flow of the game.

Did you watch? I think Hamilton's skill set is fairly obvious irrespective of the level of the competition. I wish I could invest in "he will be a star," because it seems like one of the surest bets I've seen in a while.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hamilton will be a star, too. He's a hell of a talent. I just think expecting him to be better than our senior captain is a lot to ask.

49% from the field. Cassell, Boat and dHam combining for just about 50 points. When we play a 4 guard set, we are extremely strong. With a lineup of Cassell, Boatright, Purvis, Hamilton, Brimah, it'll be tough for teams to keep up with us. Seems like right now our biggest concern is keeping Brimah in the game. If he stays out of foul trouble, we'll be just fine. It's scary to think that we have a great players like Terrence and Omar coming off of our bench.

Lucky you - Omar Calhoun is still on the team & will play.

My eyes. I see a really fluid solid hardworking Daniel Hamilton: and I'm not going to speculate on how many years. The kid is good & the kid is confident. And that's what is dragging Purvis today (and Omar). Lucky us: we have KevinOllie to coach him up. My eyes tell me Purvis will be more valued than Omar. We do need one of them to really be a good 3 pt shooter. Like Cassell Jr. I am surprised with Sam I Am - he's savvy & knows both how to play plus when to press a shot.

If we were talking this time last year, we might say that Tyler Olander is going to have a stellar year. How did that work out? I expect to see Brimah play far better; I expect to see Facey make some offense. I'm not site we are going to see far more from Nolan and much this year from Rakim. Samuel may be one of my favorite guys to watch.

Agreed except for the part about Omar. He's been injured for a year now. His jump shot hasn't really improved and he doesn't have a great handle so not expecting much from Omar. The fact that Cassell is this good already means Omar must be efficient and play hard on defense to get any meaningful minutes.

Was incredibly impressed by Hamilton. Possibly the best player on the team. Yes, even more talented than boat. His size is something special uconn hasn't had at the guard spot in a long time. So much more than a gunner. Tremendous passer- had an incredible alley-oop pass to Amidah in tight space in the second half.

Lubin and Nolan react slower than you'd like for them to have a bigger impact on the boards. Lubin has a really interesting free throw stroke but knocked it down.

Purvis is rusty. Sam Cassell Jr. Has an even older man's game than his dad but could be a real impact player.

We didn't get a whole lot out of the Brimah/Nolan/Lubin/Facey foursome today.

This team will go as Boat goes and he needs to be our best player, I think people are talking about talent and Hamilton is clearly our most talented player.
