If you are a middle-aged guy - in the crowd at a CBB game OR here on an Internet Board - are you yelling inappropriate invective at 19 year olds anonymously? I don't think you should. I think it is easy to ding the latest UConn Point Guard or call a slumping player a Dog or worse ... but we should all think twice before we do that.

Not taking accountability for the shove away from Marcus Smart. He got justly punished and all CBB players should learn going forward. Walk away (even if you are out in public): you represent more than yourself.

But Jeff Orr ... could be many of us. Knocking paid coaches is different - I think. But, I believe this is a good time to reflect on what our passion for UConn hoop is about.

Good points, Pudge.

If I'm gonna say anything bad, it is from a home at the tv or at a sports bar, or in the nose bleed section. Not directly at the player. If an opposing team's player is barreling towards me, I'm gonna make sure he is okay. Not spit in his face or call him a name. Or shove him. Jeff Orr is a loser. People like that shouldn't be at games.

Marcus Smart, use your freakin' brain and walk away. You should be above that.

I remember yelling bad things at Alonzo Mourning at the Civic Center with 17,000 other fans once

Well there is strength in numbers;).

If he singles you out of the 1,700, you were either really close, really unlucky, or just so bizarre looking.

What does age have to do with it? Is it okay for a 22 y/0 to do it? How about a 30 y/0?

Not trying to be a smart , you raise a valid point - but it should be ageless.

Cause I don't think of myself as 22 or 30 ... I'm middle aged (as is Jeff Orr). Of course, this should extend to all. Just embarrassing to think that someone in my peer group is yelling whatever directly into a College Athletes mug!

I won't openly boo UConn even if I'm disappointed with them. Not because they are "just kids playing a game" but because they are young men, playing hard and representing my school. I just think it's a bad look.

I've definitely taunted away players entering/ leaving the tunnel throughout the years but it's always light hearted and/ humorous. I won't just stand there and curse a guy out or bring up off the field stuff. Again it's just a bad look.

This all being said, if you're spending your money to come see UConn, feel free to do whatever within reason.

College players shouldn't be booed or heckled. Pros get paid -paid a lot - so they are fair game. But these kids shouldn't be abused.

Not for nothing, these kids are getting paid a lot. I'm not using that as justification to boo them, but if we are going to have a honest conversation then let's be honest.

The majority of these players are on scholarship and won't have the bills associated with being a college graduate when they are done with school. They are essentially getting paid for their entertainment value. It is what it is.

I'm not a UCONN alum. I am a fan of UCONN because I happen to be born and raised in this state. If I were born elsewhere I would most likely be a fan of whatever team called that state home. I've been fortunate since my time on this planet has been nothing but UCONN winning. Well at least the time where I knew what the was going on.

The one time it's acceptable to yell at opposing players is during free throw attempts.

Ain't nothing wrong with yelling at players as long as its not personal. But I will say its weird and creepy hearing and seeing grown ass men doing the yelling directly at 'amateur' player (not teams per se). From pee-wee to college it happens and that just doesn't seem right, and some do it with their little own kids right next to them.

Orr to me exemplifies such people.

I heard a few Providence fans yelling some really awful things at Boatright at Gampel last season. Made me want to beat their asses. Which really makes me no better than them. We are all savages...
