From USA Basketball: USA Races To 99-26 Victory Over Dominican Republic In FIBA Americas U18 Championship Opener

Here's an article that explains how the USA was able to pull off such a dominating win (sarcasm). http://www.utsports.com/sports/w-baskbl/recaps/081512aaa.html

Wonderful link, thanks for posting it! It is often hard to understand what REALLY happened in games we can't see, but this fine article makes it clear: a UTenn rookie saved Team USA's bacon! ;) Seriously though, is this so different from our own coverage? Any good sports reporter gives her readers what they want, which is shout-outs for exemplary play by home town heroes. What a contrast to the Olympics, where every Team USA player is everybody's hometown hero.

"Bucket ... Graves." Not a felicitous choice of words for the gray-haired set to see highlighted!

Not too many on this board would describe a putback as changing the course of the game...

Yes, it is totally different. Talking about a good performance is one thing. Making a basket that started a 33-0 run a "turning point" is st silly.

I think Graves has the chance to be the best player of Tennessee's current crop of top 10 kids. she's not the same caliber as Tuck, Stewart, or Jefferson (or KML for that matter), but I have a feeling she will turn out better than Burdick. I'm not sure if Massengale will turn into the superstar that Tenn fans hope. Time will tell but I don't think she'll be as good as Diggins, Simms, Gray (or Jefferson or Jones from the 2012 class).

In fairness, a putback could change the coarse of a game just like any play or basket can do that when the game is tight and the margin slim. It's just beyond silly to say that any one play is responsible for changing the coarse of a 73-point win.

Sure...a putback at the end of a tight game. This was in the first quarter wasn't it...?
