He looked noticeably younger in the 2005 picture than now too.

I would sign up for those numbers quite honestly, that's how bad the Yankees offense will be. Hopefully he figures out what everyone else is doing and gets it to .290/32/110 LOL

I think he has like 65 mill coming over the next three years----he is wearing Yankee pinstripes barring a miracle....
I would eat the salary, he stinks and any production he gives you is totally outweighed by how much of a cancer he is.

Yes but it is a sunk cost. Baring a miracle, they are going to eat it one way or the other. The only question is are the Yankees better off with him or without him. It would make more sense to use the roster spot for someone who can help them down the road.

If he hits .200 with 5 HRs agree.

But cant see that...he is too good. He is far from a 20 mill a year player but far from awful player too.

I think he has too much baggage with him and the Yankees no longer have the leadership of Derek Jeter to keep them on the straight and narrow. If I were the GM, I would release him and bite the bullet.

The determination of how much of a "cancer" he is, depends, greatly. He is allegedly great in the clubhouse, especially with younger players. Cano is one of the guys that he took under his wing and got him to work harder and take the game more seriously.

Furthermore, its debatable if the Yankees are much of a contender this year. How much could the bad PR affect them on the field ? I personally think that effect is VASTLY overblown. But even if it weren't, I give it about a 0.01% chance that A-Rod's off field effect on this team is the difference between being a contender or not.

Also, considering the age of the team in many places, they need all the possible offensive players possible.

Arod will do a lot better than those numbers assuming he can still catch up to a fastball in his new weakened condition. My guess is .265 with 18 HRs. Who knows maybe a year off allowed him to heal a lot of nagging injuries.
It would be really funny if he hit say .305 , 35 HRs and played excellent D. It would drive Yankee fans nuts; one in particular on this board and you know who you are.

I am thinking .250, 15 jacks and 65 rbi. Thats if he gets 500 ab.

He is a year and a half away from game action (count offseason), and the pitching has shifted to high heat. He is near 40 and declining. It will not be pretty.

I doubt he plays the entire year.
