I-95 near exit 21 in Fairfield. That's deep penetration right there.

They've had these signs for a while I commented on it last year There was one at one point on the Waterbury-Cheshire line as seen while driving on I-84. I have also seen them at various Metro North train stations & in individual train cars while taking the train into NYC.

I've seen them on metro north and I've seen them in westcheter county, but this is a first time I've seen them on a fixed ad on the I-95 corridor in Fairfield county. Hey, at least it's not Syracuse or Rutgers.

They've had a seasonal billboard in Stamford for at least a dozen years now.

I'm not sure if billboards are the best route but we absolutely should be doing something down here to promote our football program.

Ahhh... our tax dollars at work. Now we just need to beat them at Yankee Stadium in November.
Huh? What am I missing? Tax money doesn't pay for billboard ads? And as for the athletic department at the academies, I thought those were self sustaining primarily through donations.

Anything that lifts the awareness of college football is good for the Huskies.

Donations and revenue from Football and Hockey (brings in more than basketball). Navy, I think I read last year is the last academy still using some federal dollars for their athletic department and are in process of moving away from that.

Just saw that on my way to work this morning, funny though its 70 miles in the other direction, haha don't know why they put the billboard on 95 North.

I just noticed that one this week. It says 77 miles to West Point.

Yeah they must have put it up this past week because I saw it on my way from Southington to Shelton as I was driving yesterday morning. Didn't notice it last week on that commute. This ad has been up before, not a big deal in my opinion. I've seen the UConn ad for single game tickets with Diaco on it on those digital billboards for weeks now, including in Waterbury area.

They had one in Greenwich on Railroad Ave the past few seasons too

West Point is actually closer to southern Fairfield County, so it makes sense for them to market there. And it is a really nice drive to West Point from there as well. For the casual fan an Army game at West Point is a pretty cool experience.

Yeah, it is. Still, it bothers me that they feel that they can draw fans from Connecticut. All the more reason for smacking them down in November.

We know what we need to do. Sell out Yankee Stadium and give our Huskies a home-field advantage in a road game. Claim our stake of the coveted NYC market that is being battled over between the two conferences that we fit in the best with.

Not to be a wise but the answer to your why is in your comment. Billboards are often booked for months at a time and beyond. A very large percentage of the I95 traffic through Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford and in to NY going to work in the AM come back the same way in the PM.
The target audience is reached on either side of the road.
I hope by next year we have Bobboards on both sides!

Was on the train back home from NYC this past weekend and they had the Army ads on the trains too.

Perhaps as the crow flies. I've driven to both places from Stamford (the Rent far more often than West Point) and it takes less time to get to the Rent.

I don't know where you get this. The Naval Academy athletic department is a separate identity from the academic institution and has had a long term commitment and mission to remain self sufficient and operate independent and of federal tax dollars. That is why they have chosen to give up independence in the current collegiate football landscape and join a conference. They don't have the private resources li me a BYU or Notre Dame to continue independant. ARMY Athletics is tax dollars supported and can remain indy. They tried t be conference route but ti ed and planned poorly 20 years ago.

As UConn Dan snapped that Army ad picture, clearly he was cruising right along 95!
