Here's the problem...if the NCAA goes away, something will replace it, and it won't be better. do you really want the SEC playing with no outside controls whatsoever? the real problem is that the NCAA gets so involved in minutiae that is can't deal with major issues. Instead of addressing rampant cheating at Miami and Auburn, it gets hung up on a pseudo-legal structure. There are law firms which specialize in NCAA regulation. If that doesn't tell you it has gotten too legalistic nothing does. It really needs fewer rules, clearer rules and a swift and predictable enforcement process. It isn't a court of law or an governmental administrative body and it shouldn't try to act like one.
 
I don't know if we've reached that point yet, but were certainly seeing the demise of Mark Emmert.

And it couldn't be happening to a worse person.
