With this long Christmas layoff, I clearly have had too much time on my hands. Apologies to Willie and Ray, and also to Molly, who, like pretty much everyone else in the Boneyard, I dearly love. But the song only allows seven, and our team really only has seven meaningful contributors.
Crystal looked up at her teammates
And said “say a chant with me”
They threw their arms around her
Chanted “Coach will help us see”
They could hear the foe preparing
Coach said, “this ain’t our last fight
Someday someone might beat us
But it won’t be tonight.”
There were seven UConn players
In the arena of the Sun
They were playing for the Boneyard
In the style of defend and run
When the first half ended
There was thunder from the fans
And seven UConn players
Took a half-time lead again.
Liv went high and snared the rebound
That came smokin’ off the glass
She said, “I know what Coach is wanting”
And she deftly made the pass.
Meg knew the clock was running low
But she knew they had to win
And her final prayer was answered
And UConn won again.
There were seven UConn players
In the arena of the Sun
They were playing for the Boneyard
In the style of defend and run
When the game had ended
There was thunder in the dome
And seven UConn players
Took another victory home.
For those who may not know this classic song (or simply want to enjoy it once again), here's the link"
