AP week 18 #2

A slap in the face to Blue Blood UConn...
#2 behind a Big 12 school?!?

.-.
If Purdue or UConn lose 2 over the next week and the conference tourney, I wonder if Tenn and Arizona could grab their 1 seeds if they win out (through their tourneys). If the committee looks at NETs too closely, it can happen.

From down 1 point to up 3 points, back to #2!

3 BE teams in the top 10. Love to see that. Not sure why but Villanova got 2 points

OOC looking good again. Top 10 UNC, Kansas still top 15, Gonzaga top 20, Texas 4th team out

Is USF actually good or are they just beating a horrible conference?

I'm actually kind of surprised Purdue is as close to us as they are. They didn't lose, but beating an 8-22 Michigan team by 8 and then 17-12 Michigan State by 6? The MSU game is ok, but the Michigan game? Brain fart of a game for Purdue.

Houston almost lost (won by 2) over a 19-10 Oklahoma team who is 9th in their conference. Not a great week for either team.

I've read at times "it doesn't matter how you win - just that you do". In Purdue's case, at least, apparently it does.

In the meantime, UConn with a great feel-good wire to wire smackdown revenge game vs. Seton Hall. We outplayed them the entire game. Not like we had a nice 5 minute run and then played even the rest of the game. The announcers said their head coach blasted them at halftime. But UConn is just the better team. SH played way over their heads the first time. Great win for them tho. But the revenge game was fun to watch!!

A respectful vote that did not discount UConn for playing only one game, or devalue its record in light of Kansas dropping 2 games and 7 slots.

Seems to maybe even suggest that Sunday at noon was a good slot to showcase the Huskies.

I think Houston / Purdue / UConn are locked into #1 seeds at this point. It would take a couple of blowout losses & early conf tourney exit for any of 3 to get dropped off the 1 line I believe. So it's possible but very unlikely imo

What happened to Wisconsin? ranked 6 earlier in the year to losing 7 of their last 9 and dropping out altogether.

Wow, I’m shocked they actually chose Purdue over us in the rankings ? stunning

I’m surprised as well we jumped to #2, not complaining though

Interestingly, Purdue went from 1 4th place vote last week to 4 this week.

Well apparently more of the voters are paying attention. Seems UConn blowing out two very good teams and Purdue beating two okay teams by relatively close margins didn't go unnoticed.

It does seem pretty rare when teams ranked two and three both win the prior week and three leaps over two.
If you're going to call Seton Hall and Villanova "very good teams" we have to call Michigan State that as well. Michigan, though, is in no way "okay." They are a bad bad team.

Wonder how Houston will respond to Tugler being out for the rest of the season. He was an amazing defensive disrupter.

Doubtful.

There have been a ton of write-ups by experts,/alleged journalists/etc. all speaking about how the top three have distanced themselves from the next group of schools.

From the look of things, even if all three were to lose their remaining regular season games and opening conference tournament game (astronomically unlikely) they still should each grab a one seed.
