The college players now have never had a world where the WNBA wasn't an option and they've been groomed mostly in AAU and less from high school coaches. They want to play at a high level and get paid for it, even if it isn't much money or only a few years. Walker, Carter and Sabaly would all have been first or second team returning AAs but chose to leave school. McDonald would have also been a high pick had she left.
