feinberg is a good reporter. i enjoy his work.Doug Feinberg has been covering women’s hoops for decades and usually covers UConn. He made a mistake. I hope wherever you guys work, your bosses aren’t as brutal after such a small error
but of course he's not perfect. that's why a news organization -- particularly one as ubiquitous as AP -- is supposed to have a backup to catch the errors before they make it out there. Then, especially in this cyber era with so many trying to stir up controversy, they are spread widely.
in this case, the misinformation doesn't mean much. it's not that important. the problem, for me at least, is that the journalistic process failed. And badly, somebody should have caught the error, because it was an obvious one. that it was not vital is beside the point. it's an example of deteriorating standards that need to be upheld, for everybody's sake.
doug no doubt agrees on this point. Probably was p.o.'d that the embarrassing, though trivial, goof made it to print.
p.s. Where i worked i considered even small errors to be brutal, but they happen. learn and move on.
