hmm. there were a couple people who said Tennessee should drop to about 8 or 9, below a RU team they already beat. and it looks like the pollsters agreed. frankly i'm surprised they dropped below Maryland but i guess 4 losses will do that to you.

Tennessee as a three seed would be an interesting development (not that the selection committee uses the AP poll as the basis for determining seedings). I imagine they'll work their way back to a solid two, though. I expect they'll lose to ND in South Bend unless they just have a lights out shooting night, but the SEC is otherwise not going to provide a ton of resistance. Meanwhile, none of the teams in the 5-10 spots strike me as consistently dangerous, so there will be some attrition there.

I'm starting to think I'm going to have to go to UConn-Rutgers at Gampel on 2/4.

I agree. A solid victory by TN over KY would likely cause them the switch positions. Plus I'll be surprised it RU and MD don't have a loss or two in their future. I see TN back up to 6 or 7.

Any body notice that the Blue Hens are up to #16? In my Kingston fantasy world, I would love to see the #1 Huskies beat #4 Tennessee, and then the #3 Blue Hens in the regional final with Omnu shutting down the big hen.

Green Bay plays good basketball. It's good to see them rewarded, especially on a day when Titletown is suffering.

Don't understand why Matt Bollant was not promptly hired elsewhere after last season. I imagine his time to lead a big-time program is coming sooner rather than later if he wants it.

Victories over teams in the Top 10:

Baylor: 3 (ND, UConn, Tenn)
ND: 3 (UConn, Duke, Kentucky)
UConn: 1 (Stanford)
Stanford: 1 (Tenn)
Duke: 0
Kentucky: 2 (Duke, Tenn)
RU: 0
Maryland: 0
Tenn: 1 (RU) (note--also W vs #11 Miami)
OSU: 0

*#11 Miami: 2 (RU, MD)

Kentucky has one bad loss to MTSU, but they may be as good as the #4 team in the country. Duke's only win of note right now is #13 Purdue. RU's only win of note right now is #18 Louisville. MD does have wins against #16 Delaware, #18 Georgetown, #24 UNC.

UT and Miami both seem like teams that if they get hot, they can hang with anybody. Their loss #s are a result of very tough schedules and very off nights.

Rutgers also beat Georgia Tech in that week that they were ranked. ;)

North Carolina sure didn't look like a "ranked" team tonight. I wonder if they'll drop off all the way next Monday.
