Boeheim was right....punch UConn in the face, and they'll lay down. No blame on the refs in this one...this team has the uncanny ability to make the wrong play at the wrong time more consistently than i've ever seen before. It's actually what they do best. A taunting technical foul (which was absolutely the right call) after you've made up 10 points of a deficit and the crowd going crazy?? game went from 4 to 9 in a matter of seconds. AD with two horrible shots just when we needed good possessions....it goes on an on.

Whatever the opposite of intangibles is, this team has it in spades.

Laying down is not bringing it down to 4 but eventually losing.

Laying down is getting run out of the gym. They didn't.

That said, I thought there was a moral victory of sorts after the Syracuse game. None here.

No blame on the refs? Did you watch the game?
please....blaming refs is just another excuse. they had every opportunity, they just don't make the plays they need to make, while Marquette made a bushel full of them

Because the refs made bogus calls when they clawed back.

Are refs gods to some of you? They were beyond awful. They were really bad.

A great way to tell if your team stinks is to count the number of people complaining about the referees.

UConn nearly lost by 20 today at home. The referees did not determine the outcome of this game.

It's hard to fix the defense with your front line on the bench. I like Olander. He can't guard Crowder. Neither can Wolf.

Height isn't everything for rebounding. Strength matters. With Drummond and AO on the bench, they were just able to muscle they're way in all the time. Effort is important, but an easy crutch when you want to call a team lazy--you can't measure it, so it's impossible to disagree.

Marquette was just stronger, especially without AO or AD in.

This team just does not make clutch, winning plays. Certain guys and certain teams have a sense of "what do I do right now that's going to maximize our chances of winning this game?". Our team does not. Whether it's Drummond trying turn-around jumpers on the baseline or Bazz jacking up 3's early in the shot clock or Boat trying for a steal or Lamb failing to close on a shooter.

These are small, subtle plays that players with high IQ's recognize as having resounding impacts on the game, but our guys don't have the innate sense of "what do I do right now that's going to win us this game".

If you watched that game and you think the refs did not have a hand in the result, you either need to sit closer to the TV where you can see it or you need to grab yourself a rule book.

NIT may be a given at this point. So much for Calhoun teams ALWAYS turning it around.

The refs were awful. But we still suck. We would cut the lead to seven and then turn it over. Then they score. Goes to seven and wr blow it. We got stops but couldn't capitalize. We just dont have good players. Drummond should be but he's not. Roscoe has been bad all year. Giffey goes in and gives up two threes in a minute. Oleander tuns it over twice and gives up six quick pts. Alex was in foul trouble all game. Daniels air balls a wide open three. Honestly how are we supposed to win when every game three quarters of our team plays awful

Did anyone hear the comment from Doris Burke? She said with all the great things that have happened with this program over the years, this season is tragic.

i am growing increasingly frustrated with the state of our program. we can say the ncaa is out to get us. fine, thats hard to argue. we can say we lost today because of the refs. fine. point is, we need to stop blaming everyone else and start assessing where we are now and we are going. doris burke said it best....this program is at an extremely fragile place. important decisions need to be made and the impact of those decisions will greatly affect where this program goes from here.

If their RPI and SOS stay strong, they're in easily (8-9 seed) as long as they don't totally crap the bed.

If they win out (obviously less confident about this today) and win a game in the BE, they'll be a 5-6 seed.

Regarding the defense, understanding that a zone is very anti-JC, but the thought occurred to me our players may be more suited to play zone defenses. Our big guys are being abused.

Referees did not decide the game....please. Were they bad? yes. was the game still there to be win if this team could just figure out a way to make some winning plays? absolutely. I hate people that blame refs, other than when they truly decide a game in the last several seconds (ala John Clougherty). Refs may have influenced the game today, but they certainly didn't decide it. Marquette made winning plays, UConn didn't...plain and simple

This team is unable to win any battles for the loose balls, always a step late or not strong enough. Lamb's defense is a real liability. The refs made blatent errors today that did have an effect on the game. Biggest error of all? Boatright running his mouth. Crowder did shove Oriaki out of bounds near the end on a box out but Alex also let him do it.

Giving the ball to drummond in the post is like throwing it into a black hole. He really has no idea how to play basketball yet.

That said was it all the refs fault? No. Did they play a hand? I dont see how you could say they didn't. I didn't know you can take charges on guys running down the floor without the ball. Just wait till Duke figures that out.

It's totally possible for the refs and UConn to both suck, you know.
