Anyone ask Hurley how dinner with Lewis went?

Members of the UConn men’s basketball team mingled with fans and donors in a tent outside Rentschler Field on Saturday as part of the Husky Tailgate before the night’s football game against Florida Atlantic.

Coach Dan Hurley showed up for the end of the event after having dinner with a recruit.

Didn’t ask about the visit, but the event was a blast! Players were super nice and accessible. Photos with every single one, time for a little conversation. A quick estimate would be only about 150 fans had a full hour to mingle. My highlights:

• talking hoops with Luke. He’s was so nice and approachable.
• asking Mahaney how practices compared to St. Mary’s. He said it is intense here.
• meeting Jackson. Great guy, still giving to the program.

All were great, but hard not to really like Samson, Diarra, Abraham and Nowell. Andrea, Kimani’s wife, and Liam’s family were great too.

I got to hang with Ahmad Noelle for a bit and he was just an impressive human being and you could tell all the newbies on the roster have really embraced the culture. Having Andre Jackson there was a great surprise. Such an awesome event!
