Any Braylon Mullins medical update

Hurley Presser said possible concussion. Any new news
They just said he’s in concussion protocol. I don’t really know what that means beyond the obvious. Would assume he’s missing the Providence game. Not sure if at Creighton on Saturday is enough time either - especially having to fly to the Midwest.

I imagine they play this very cautious, last thing you want is for him to hit his noggin again and re concuss because that means his year is most likely over.

Beat guess is they try to get him back for the St. John's game on the 6th.

You're probably right but there is no timetable to get through concussion protocol. You have to get through each step and then move on to the next step. If it's not bad he could cruise through the protocol. If he can't get through a step he just has to take the time off that it takes to get through that step. No way of telling how it will go. Christian Gonzalez of the Patriots went through the protocol in less than a week after the first playoff game and didn't miss the next game against Houston. Others take much longer.

How long was Alex out with his concussion?

Wouldn't mind Mullins taking a game to try and get Ross and Stew back comfortable offensively.

Ross especially was making progress on that end before the hammy and hasn't been close to the same since.

From what I saw, the hit to his head didn’t look bad, however needing that much help to walk to the locker room shows he was woozy beyond what Alex presented with. I hope Braylon doesn’t miss much time, but I suspect this is a 2 or 3 week recovery.

Looks like two games last year, MBC and Baylor. Came back a little over a week, which is about right.

Mullins was back on the sideline after the game. Hurley said they're taking care of him in the presser, in the protocol. My guess is he'll miss 2 games, we'd be fortunate at 1.

Didn't Alex slam his head against the floor? I feel like Alex had more skull impact, Braylon more of a whiplash effect.

Not worried about Providence @home, but that road trip to Creighton can be a doozy.

Creighton’s defense sucks, but they have a lot of bucket getters on offense.

That place will be ripping - we'll be number 2 and likely 10-0 in the BE. Creighton is on the bubble outside, so that would be a huge win for them. The'll need that one.

My understanding is that much more damage if hit on side of head/neck than directly in front or behind.

No one concussion should be compared to another.

And we don't have an NFL style tent to walk into then come out of. Concussion protocol is all about making sure concussion symptoms diminish, brain swelling is abated, and all vitals return to normal.

AK's concussion last year seemed to affect his shot. Samson Johnson was knock unconscious at MSG vs Gonzaga for 10-15 seconds but did not have a concussion. The protocol helps and Braylon will likely not play Tuesday and since Creighton is away, it remains to be told if he can travel with the team. Best guess from an outside view is Xavier on 2/3.

So TV had the other end of Mullins front, this has his back but Lewis' elbow seems deliberate to me still. Lewis left arm was down until Braylon got close then he fires off an elbow at his head. X has the worst controls you cannot stop it but check it out.

That's what it looked like to me also. I slowed it down frame by frame and I'm pretty sure it was Lewis's shoulder and not his elbow that got Mullins in the head.
I didn’t slow it down but in real time it looks like the shoulder clears him and then something smacks him after the fact. It happens quick. Didn’t look terrible.

with NFL players seems like it is always 7-9 days. Missing 2 games is the most likely outcome.

His wooziness seems like a couple weeks at least. We need to work Ross in and another ball handler.

Actual contact bit hard to ascertain from the video. Mullin's reaction certainly shows he was hit hard. Glad he didn't collapse. 2 weeks out maybe.
