A few things I've been thinking for a bit, but didn't bother posting while Bennett's recruitment was still active. Now that it's official he won't be coming to UConn...

-I know the kid is extremely highly-rated and probably super talented, but the idea of a 6'7" (i.e. severely undersized) guy playing power forward in the Big East was never overwhelmingly enticing. Probably sounds like sour grapes at this point, but it has been my opinion for a while.

-Now that it's pretty clear AO won't be declaring early for any drafts, and the very slight chance that AD comes back next year (even though I don't think that's actually happening despite his quotes last night), it appears minutes might be hard to come by in UConn's front court next year.

-And most importantly, even though many on this board refuse to except it as reality, as of right now UConn won't be playing any post-season basketball next year. While this may change in the months to come, I repeat, as of right now UConn won't be playing any post-season basketball next year. That is pretty damning in the eyes of any potential recruit who is a 17 or 18 year old kid. I'm just glad Omar didn't let that get to him and signed this LOI. Says a lot about the guy's character.

Recruits come and go. Time to move on to the next one. UConn basketball never stops.

Go look up the height of Jeff Adrien and DeJuan Blair, who are both in the NBA. I think they were okay in the Big East....

And as far as I'm concerned, there has been no official ruling regarding the NCAA tournament. I've heard they will make a decision in February and I highly doubt UConn will be left out due to APR scores 4 years prior. Also, considering the scores have reportedly been above average the last two years, they need some time for schools to meet the four year APR average. UConn has already been hit for the APR scores, they cannot penalize us again for the same scores. Can this still turn off potential recruits? Absolutely. But I for one am not worried about it at all.

Heard he's good friends with former Pitt player Khem Birch, and considering going wherever Birch transfers to. Birch is supposedly down to UNLV and Florida.

He's definitely not stronger than Blair. Could be more talented though.

I'm a huge fan of Bennett's game, but considering who's been on his list, I never had high hopes he'd come here.

I will be forever baffled by posts on the Boneyard regarding size. This is college basketball, a 6'7" PF is just fine as long as they can actually play, we won a NC and went to a Final 4 starting PFs who went about 6'7" and they seemed to do just fine there. DeJaun Blair had no problems at 6'7" kicking Hasheem's ass who had about 7" on him. Kevin Jones is currently dominating in the paint and on the glass and goes about the same size height wise. Its time to move on now since Bennett cut UConn from his list but I would never be concerned about a PF being 6'7" in college if they have skills, strength, and toughness to go with it.

6'7 with long long arms. The kid will be good but this has been a long time coming espicially considering Olander's emergence.

Agree saying 6'7" is too small for a starting PF in major college basketball is silly. Adrien and KFree are not even 6'7", Roscoe played most of the time at four for us last year at 6'8" 205

We have all the big needs coming back, big men, point guards--except scorers.

Daniels and Calhoun will need to pick it up bigtime.

Oh well - we'll just have to find a lower ranked kid like Emeka or J.Lamb.
