I wonder if UConn has gotten so good and in the foreseeable future, so deep that the era of walk on's is over? :(

Thanks! Another nice piece from Harvey. It's interesting to think about T, compared to the other players. Geno has been very tough on Lou, but Lou's future is as a basketball star and likely Olympian. T had to do the same workout regimen, with no prospects of even meaningful playing time. But she persevered, came out a stronger person, and has famous friends and great memories. T's intensity on the bench matches that of Diana and Maya.

None are likely next year--with a roster of 14.

It's wonderful that the newspaper of record has decided to closely follow the woman's BB team of consequence.

A terrific story, a terrific young woman.
And that picture...the camaraderie, the delight.
(Was that not after Danger's fancy reverse and drive a month or so ago)?

No longer. At least not technically. It surrendered that responsibility I guess when it became more profitable to publish watch and handbag advertisements than official governmental documents. So then, they changed the meaning of the term from the responsibility for publishing official government statements in their entirety to just being a respected and widely circulating national newspaper, and under that very ambiguous criterion, the Times still claims it is.

And as to covering WCBB, yes, very recently. But if you except women's tennis (and that's largely because of Serena Williams), the Times sports section is terribly sexist. And last Sunday, Liz Spayd, the Public Editor of the Times, excoriated the paper for its inability/refusal to promote women to positions of authority at the Times.

She chose Connecticut over Penn State “strictly for the academics,” she said
Of course, it could have been a specific program, though both are excellent in Ag Sciences. Penn State make a terrific, heroic run for overall academic excellence in the 80s and 90s but sort of fell back into the pack because of budget cuts. UConn has made an ever greater run recently. There have been budget cuts as well over the last couple of years, but UConn still has a lot of momentum. The state, however, has serious pension challenges, and only time will tell whether UConn can keep the momentum going. Almost all state universities throughout the country are suffering similarly.
