Congrats to Lou for setting NCAA marks of 10 straight 3-pointers in a single game and 10 in a game with no misses!

We are working our way toward the NCAA season assist record for a team. The current record is 850, set by the 2013-14 UConn team (in 40 games). Mo, Bria, Stef, and Stewie each had over 120.

We had a whopping 31 assists tonight. If we play 6 more games and maintain our average of 23+ per game, we are on track for 887 (in only 38 games).

And on track for five starters with over 100. I think the 2015 and 2002 teams did that. Word I get is that those were really, really good teams.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...the reason we continue to win is bc we share the ball. And not only that we have strong passers AT EVERY position. I mean a post player leads in assists! That's just crazy!

No one in america can assist like our Huskies, nobody. And a team that shares the ball is a team that wins the game. I'm not surprised we are where we are at the moment bc I knew we'd get there together. Everyone working hard and pulling weight.

Plus Geno would NEVER recruit a player who doesn't know how to pass lol

The 2015 team did have 5 players with over 100 assists apiece, though they managed to lose a game. The archives for 2002 are not accessible, but I think your statement is at least plausible and probably correct.

Lou and Crystal are within 2-3 of 100. Pheesa has only 70. But we should have 5 players with 100+.

They are also in position to set a new record because all five players on the floor can also score, so a pass to any player can result in an assist. And as a team they shoot 52%. (With 8 of the ten players shooting over .400 and 7 of the ten over .450. The two under .400 have combined for only 368 of the 6400 minutes and shot only 41 of the 2007 field goal attempts.)

Every time they bring the ball down court they think one objective: Get somebody an easy shot. You can't lose if you're always taking an easy shot. I learned that from pocket billiards. The best players never seem to take a difficult shot because of their great position.

MH, I too have been tracking this stat since about midseason. The Huskies have a planeload of assists (currently at 747 ;)).

The Huskies ability to pass the ball is one of the key ingredients in Geno's not-so-secret sauce that allows UConn to routinely beat top teams with equal or better talent.

Thanks. I knew someone had been tracking it, but couldn't recall who it was. Last nights's total of 31 was stellar.

Exactly! Great passes become assists only if the shot is converted. Nat cost Crystal 2 nice ones on Sunday. I think Gabby has gotten most of her assists on passes to Pheesa, who is shooting an insane .689.

Oops. You're right. I knew that but said it wrong. Thanks for the clear up.

Lou only played 28 mins last night.
What will happen if Geno let her to play 40 mins?

These stats are absolutely insane!

And we thought this would be a re-laoding year. I think a lot of us missed what Lou, Pheesa and Gabby did last season. They were overshadow by the Big 3.

Looks like the 2015 had five starters and the 2011 team had five players, not all starters, with 100 assists. Others?

I believe one of the early 200o teams, maybe 2001, had five players as well.
