This is week or 2 old but didn’t see it …

Following Smesko leaving FGCU for Atlanta, Lynne Robert’s has left Utah to become the LA Sparks HC.

Still can’t believe these coaches abandoning their teams a few weeks into the season.

But it does show the W becoming more attractive, at least relatively.

Wash Dallas Conn still looking.

I think it shows the NIL and LOI are ruining college bball

I'd rather coach college.

But, college is more of a 12-month job.
WNBA regular season from mid-May through mid-September.

This. If Geno were 10 years younger and Dallas gave him a call… I think he would consider it.
To coach Arike? Ha no.

Also doubt he’s interested ina big pay cut.

NLI is a problem if you can’t get players or have to make untenable promises. I don’t think those are happening for him.

The Mavericks? Maybe.

The Wings? No way. He wouldn't take it even if they offered to ship Arike out tonight.

There's a reason that these are second- or third-tier coaches that are peacing out to the W. A far cry from the level of Geno-Tara-Kim-Dawn.

Considering over the 4 decades he has had offers to leave UConn and turned those down. I doubt that if he was 10 years younger, he would want to coach in the pros.

The college game has changed. There is a reason guys like jay wright and nick saban left. Geno hates the portal and NIL. Every year in an interview he laments about players leaving and not showing any loyalty to the school that developed them. Spoiler: it will happen again this year. Maybe when UConn plays Villanova?

I kind of just picked a random one. But if nova has a tough year it is easy to imagine a sympathetic Geno at a presser. Nova lost at least Dalce and Olsen to the portal. Maybe more.

Just like there are reasons why Tom Izzo, Kim Barnes, Andy Yosinoff, and Julie Goodenough stay in the game, despite the so-called portal and NIL. Coach Izzo loves the portal and appreciates players having that freedom to transfer. Coach Barnes lost some players to the portal, and did not complain. She understands that it is part of the process and welcomes players having that freedom to transfer and access to NILs. As far as Coach hating the portal and NIL, I give him some slack because he has had players transfer and he has gained players through the portal. NIL is here to stay. I am sure in time, adjustments will be made but NIL is here to stay.

Has he said he hates the portal and NIL?

He dislikes players getting coached up and then leaving that coach, but that’s not everyone in the portal. I don’t think he cares about the players who left uconn.

And NIL has been great for Paige.
