Former Mercy High star Sadie Edwards was at #UConn women's game. She now attends Blair Academy

And this from the Blair Academy website:

As reported in the New York Post on July 24, talented student and athlete Sadie Edwards '14 has decided to enroll at Blair. Edwards, ranked as the #17 player in the country in her class, is an A student who is often compared to Michelle Obama for her friendly, outgoing nature and for her natural leadership. A combo guard who excels at all aspects of the game, Sadie is being recruited by virtually every top program in the country including Stanford, Boston College, Michigan, UCONN and Harvard.

Boston College is a top program? You could have fooled me.

There was a thread on Sadie Edwards last week. Sadie is from CT and played for Nazareth before transferring to Blair. She is a very bright and impressive young woman. I've heard that UConn is her favorite but I'm not sure how accurate this report is.

One of the UConn coaches was at Blair's championship game on Tues (while Geno was in SC for his first of two trips this week). Geno was at one of Blair's games last week. You'll notice Geno sitting in the bleachers in this shot:

She SOUNDS like a UCONN player. "team effort", "coming together to push thru fatigue" etc etc. Sounds like a winner.

I really like this young lady. She has the right attitude to be sucessful at any college she decides to play at. I hope she picks UCONN.

Blair Academy is the school Temi Fegenbele (SP?) went to before picking Harvard.

Blair Academy's coach, Quint Clark, had this to say about Sadie before the season:

Sadie is one of the most talented players I've ever seen. She is a big, athletic and smart guard who will present all kinds of match-up problems for other teams."

Cat, I really want this kid at Uconn. I have never seen a HS player so mature and composed when interviewed.

She definitely seems 'way beyond her years'.....

After what will hopefully be a long and successful career for her *on* the court, she sounds like someone who could sit down next to Kara Lawson in studio and break down other teams' play for a national TV audience!

OK, I am convinced she is ready for that college version of "Jeopardy." Questions I have are, "What the hell is her A/TO ratio and her 3FG%"

Jim Fuller wrote a fairly lengthy bit on her this morning in his "Mixed Results for UConn Recruits" blog, and states the following:

Edwards was named a first team All-MAPL selection, named to the all-conference defensive team and was named the newcomer of the year. I was able to find scoring stats from 22 of the 24 games Blair Academy played in (missing both games against The Hill School) and she scored in double figures in 20 of them including seven 20-point games with a scoring average of 17.2 points per game. She also had at least four games with 10 or more assists. I saw a tweet from @weworkhoops which reported that coaches from UConn and Kentucky were in to see Edwards on Tuesday.
