You would have thought they have prepared at least a little bit. Google some recent news stories about our last few games, it's not like there isn't a lot of coverage of us.

I agree with most of the posters here that these announcers were completely biased. At least Megan calls it like she sees it and is fair. I have always thought that she is fair about plays going both ways.

I laughed out loud at the woman's opener, where she said since they beat SJU and SJU beat us, Marquette SHOULD win tonight. She sounded serious, too. Unfortunately I fell asleep at halftime and missed most of the second half! My WiFi was down, so I couldn't keep up with the game thread. :( The announcers were entertaining, but far from knowlegable.

My favorite was commenting on the fact that Kara was there doing radio and that UConn always gets the "pick of the litter". It's one thing not to be totally up on UConn, but come on. I thought everyone who's been following the game since UConn came on the scene knew Kara wasn't a blue chip recruit out of high school.

But yes, I'm happy the game was available for all of us!

The homerism didn't bother me at all - except they were wrong so many times . I spent most of the game trying to decide who was dumb and who was dumberer.
I finally opted for the guy was dumb and the woman was really dumber er er .
well said... the guy started out ok but I think he turned up his flask a few times at the half

I just checked the Courant online and the announcers were listed as: "Steve "Homer" True and Michele Griffin-Wenzel' I guess that says it all.
Michelle is a science teacher

and its "The Homer"

They are bad but they are making me laugh. Clueless

I'm with you! I was in a room with a house full of people so did not hear everything going on, but at least for me they were not as annoying of some of the homers we have had over the years. Because of the distractions in the house and the bad camera angle, I did not have the full concentration I normally have at home. I liked when the women said she liked that so and so was keeping Marquette in the game when they were down close to 20 nearing the 10 minute mark of the game. A couple minutes later they were down 30 and I wondered if she thought they were still in it. Also liked the back to back complaints about a travel call until she saw the replay and said "I guess that wasn't a travel". Liked when she said UConn got all the calls after the Tech, and though that may have been true, they were very deserving fouls. Bottom line for me was they were not good, but at least their voices were OK, the game was never in doubt, and hopefully we'll never experience them again. They were much better than listening to the CPTV studio crew, as my remote spares me that pain when I am at home, and never have to listen to them do home games.

I can see why folks would have issues with the competence of tonight's
announcers, but I don't get why people are upset that they're rooting
for Marquette. Aren't they getting paid to broadcast to Marquette fans?

as a professional... you are to please the customer BUT not by any means necessary

I've watched numerous games over the years with a variety of different individuals broadcasting these games, but these two clowns are the very worst that I have seen. I promise never to complain about Meghan and Bob again.

I jumped up and screamed at the tv when the woman commented about KML - she will be very successful in the WNBA if she doesn't get hurt in the next 3 years. Seriously? Considering how many athletes have gone down with you know what, that was the dumbest comment ever. I'm still seething about it.

I happen to like Picozzi and Culmo. OK, call me nuts if you wish, but I like them. And Kara on radio and Lawson on TV halftime are as good as it gets.

As for today's announcers, of course they are homers. I am not uncomfortable with that, because I spent many years listening to Johnny Most, who unquestionably set the homerism bar impossibly high.

I'm with Kib:)

OMG, Johnny Most was the best homer ever, but he was also knowledgeable about the sport, which made it acceptable in Beantown

Wow- you thought their voices were not ear shattering. Just goes to show you
beauty is in the eye blah blah

Oh, nevermind.

"Then he was succeeded by Bob Prince, yet another one-of-a-kind."

Hey Kib....Bob Prince was the worst/best homer I ever listened to. And he was probably the most fun to listen of any announcer. Plus he used to say "All we need is a bloop and a blast."

I dont know about that... ;)

Just saw your response, and as I mentioned, lots of crowd noise in the house, and I was watching a large screen tv but far across the room with grandkids and a dog running around. I guess I can thank God for the distractions!!
