Give them 5 years under the coach and organization of your choice, how well do they do by 2030?

You know the guys. This team has
Clingan
Castle
Hawkins
Jackson Jr
Newton
Martin
Sanogo
Spencer

Bouknight comes back with his head on right.
Drummond in the veteran role.
Napier is welcomed back
Let's say Kemba is coaxed out of retirement for a year or two to play the locker room leader and help the team go in the right direction.

With the best coaching, can this team do well in a few years in the NBA? How well? Could they hit +50 wins by 2030?

(Sorry for any name misspellings, I'm awful with names).

I mean realistically they're far and away the worst team in the league right now. A bunch of role players and 3 potential stars by 2030 (Hawk, Castle, Clingan) isn't how games are won.

We've gone too long without NBA prospects coming out of the program for this to be a serious consideration. If we had a couple of 8-10 year vets puttting up 20ppg it might be different.

Now they might be, but honestly, I think in 5 years they could be something, drafting new UConn players that come along between 2025 and 30 for this hypothetical Uconn only Nba team. I think the best run organization or one of the top 5 would have that above team winning at least 45/year by 2030.

Very good starting unit defensively with Castle, Jackson and Clingan. Castle is already one of the best on ball defenders in the NBA and Clingan one of the best paint protectors. Jackson brings so much to the table there also.

That offense would be pretty bad and rely on Hawkins, and Castle's improvement.

Also a gaping hole at the four both starting and off the bench.

Right now that would have a nine-man roster of (ten with Bouknight):

Starters:
PG: Castle
SG: Hawkins
SF: Jackson
PF: ???
C: Clingan

Bench:
C: Drummond, Sanogo
PF: ??
SF: Martin
SG: Spencer, Bouknight
PG: Newton

Though a bit short, Karaban and McNeeley look like they would fit that PF role to an extent.

All things considered, it is a very good start for basically two draft classes but unless Castle becomes one, missing that NBA star.

Try this exercise in NBA 2K, I forget this guys name but he has a popular YouTube channel where he does all these crazy wild scenarios on NBA 2K if you mentioned this to him he would probably do it.

PG - Castle/Newton/Calcaterra
SG - Hawkins/Bouknight
SF - Cam/Andre (or other way around)
PF - Tyrese/Polley
C - Clingan/Sanogo/Drummond

In college that’s one of the best teams ever! In the NBA, even in 2030, they suck lol

Suck as in 55+ losses? You don't think one of the top coaching staffs in the NBA could bring this team up to even a respectable 40 wins within 5 years?

Coaching Impact:

With five years under a top-tier NBA coaching staff, this team would be significantly more polished. The following would be key impacts:

  • Defense: Players like Jackson Jr., Drummond, and Clingan would likely become elite defenders with advanced schemes and player development. Sanogo could also be a strong defensive presence with the right coaching.
  • Offensive Systems: The coaching staff would likely run an offense that maximizes the talents of dynamic players like Bouknight, Spencer, and Kemba Walker. With refined playmaking and spacing, they would have an efficient, fast-paced offense.
  • Player Development: Players like Clingan, Castle, Hawkins, and Newton would see significant development in their skills, especially shooting, ball handling, and basketball IQ.
  • Depth: The team would have a solid balance between established players and young prospects, with enough depth to compete in a highly competitive NBA.

How They Might Perform:

With five years of development, the team could likely be competitive in the playoff race, with the potential to reach the middle of the standings in a competitive conference. However, they might still face challenges:

  • Lack of a Superstar: Without a clear MVP-caliber player (like a Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, or similar), the team might struggle to compete with true title contenders.
  • Development of Chemistry: While the coaching staff would enhance individual player growth, the team would still need to develop solid on-court chemistry, especially if there's a mix of veterans and younger, developing players.
In conclusion, with excellent coaching, this team would likely have a competitive edge and be positioned for a steady rise, but their success in the playoffs would still depend on how well they develop cohesion, star power, and consistency.

With all due respect to our guys..come on now

Andre Drummond would become an elite defender?

James Bouknight was drafted exclusively due to his offensive skills, and he averaged 5 points a game in 3 years on 36%, and is now out of the league. Dynamic player?

Kemba Walker is 34 years old. His body broke down on him and he had to retire from the NBA because he was no longer able to perform in line with his skills. In 2019 Kemba Walker was a dynamic player, not 2024

This team does not have NBA level depth. Their bench is mostly G League and 2 Way players. Sure some of them could play in the NBA, but being a middle of the pack NBA playoff team is much different than being a strong G League player or NCAA champion
