If we can get 6-8-2 from Facey next year-look out!
Conservative projections for bigs: KF 5 pts. 6 Rebs, EW 5 pts. 4 Rebs, TO 4 pts 4 Rebs, PN 4 pts. 4 Rebs, AB 1 pt, 2 Rebs
Add it up: 19 pts. 20 Rebs from the 5 and less than half of the minutes at the 4.
Huge upgrade over this year and not an unreasonable individual goal for any player (although admittedly, it is unlikely that we would get that much consistent production out of all of them...but perhaps it can average out?)

This would just mean that no one grabbed a position and we are juggling minutes all year.

a starting five of

SN
OC
EW
PN
DD
would be pretty darn good.
DD is much more effective at the 4 than three
Omar could be a two but will need to improve his handle quite a bit to be the full- time two.
With both filling the two and three, as you suggest, this team would struggle quite a bit against ball pressure

Not bad but UConn is a better team with 2 solid ball handlers so I think Ryan needs to be the 2........if Nolan improves as much as he did from 3/4 season on we may see him earn the 5 over the summer and next fall......still think there's some offense there too so stay tuned! But he and Wolf (provided he is back), TO and Brimah makes it very comfy with 20 fouls in the middle!

Having Boat come off the bench destroy team chemistry. You go from 2nd leading scorer and playmaker to a 6th man. He'd take that as an insult.

Quite frankly, his game wasn't starter quality down the stretch. Don't care how many points he scored. Without Bazz on the floor Boat looked lost.

His starting spot isn't a given. Hopefully he makes the leap.

agreed. another lineup i like and that could very well be the lineup KO goes with is

SN
RB
PN
DD
OC

Its a bit on the thin side but the scoring and athleticsm in that five is through the roof! with an improved nolan if hes able to score a little and rebound this five could score a lot of points.

I think the only starting spots that are a lock are Shabazz and Daniels. Probably Omar as well. We should have a very deep team next season, to the point where it may make sense to redshirt Brimah.

We can pencil in this lineup with the center spot blank, awaiting developments. I hope that KO remembers that there were a lot of times down the stretch of the last year where our best lineup had NG and DD as the frontcourt. There will be times when that lineup will probably be our best again, as long as there is not an opposing center who can really dominate our small lineup.

I would like to see Niels getting time at various spots depending upon the opponent. If Samuel needs time to develop and we are facing pressure, I would not be surprised if Niels would be at least as good as Omar in handling the ball. He's a much better passer. If Omar can show a secure handle, he could switch to the 2 (when Bazz or Boat out), Niels to the 3, DD at the 4.

Lots of possibilities, but lets not forget NG. I've been waiting for his game to emerge and he started to show it over the last third of the season. He became our best defender and toughest inside player. If he would just relax and shoot the ball in rhythm without overthinking, he might be our best outside shooter when open.

Guys, our starting lineup will be as follows:

SN
RB
OC
DD
___

The center spot is the only question right now.

Quit speculating on all this garbage about Boat coming off the bench. He averaged ~17ppg last year.

This board is ridiculous sometimes.

Boat is my favorite player. His athleticism is off the charts. He averaged 15 points a game, but he also averaged 3 turnovers and had lots of defensive lapses. I don't think that he has a starting spot secured at all. Our roster is comprised of lots of guys who are good basketball playes but who don't have real defined positions/roles. Omar should be a "2", but the lack of a good handle makes him a "3". Giffey played where needed. Even Bazz is a combo guard rather than a pure point. Deandre should probably be a "3" based on his build, but he played the "4" out of necessity. Olander played out of position at the "5". I really don't think the lineup is set other than Bazz and Deandre are certain starters. I could easliy see either Boat or Omar being the first guy off the bench.

Really too early to call and thats due to lots of talent and depth. If Brimah is ready to play, I count 11 guys competing for minutes. The lineup I would love to see if Omar can improve his handle and Brimah is ready to play is:

C: Wolf
PF: Facey
SF: DD
SG: Omar
PG: Bazz

With Boat, Giffey, Phil, Brimah and Samuels all getting some minutes. TO is going to have to work real hard to earn minutes in what is now a crowded frontcourt.

So you're banking on Omar and DeAndre improving their handle by leaps and bounds, but don't believe there's any chance of Boatright getting better?

The first thing I thought of when I saw this lineup is that Louisville (or any team that presses) would force about 45 turnovers and Napier might keel over since he'd be the only guy capable of getting the ball over half court.
