"Hold my beer...."

During Dan Hurley's 14-year head coaching career, not counting the two seasons he changed teams, his winning percentage has declined only once. His URI 2014-15 .697 was followed by .531 in the 2015-16 season. He then responded In his final two years at URI with .714 and .765 seasons.

Wagner the season before Hurley: 5-26
Wagner in Hurley's last season: 25-6

URI the season before Hurley: 7-24
URI in Hurley’s last season: 26-8 and the only 2 tournament appearances in 25 years

UConn the season before Hurley: 14-18
And UConn now…

That’s just what he does.

That 15-16 season was one injury frustration after another- EC Matthews tore his ACL in the first game, Hassan Martin ended the season injured, and both Jarvis Garrett and Kuran Iverson missed time (broken jaw, concussion). Miserable season, but I think it eventually made Dan better with dealing with injuries- more next man up than dwelling on what could have been. That was the season the season URI was finally supposed to get back to the tournament.

In his six seasons as Head Coach at UConn, his winning % has gone up EVERY year. I'm sure that's not a feat that many D1 coaches have accomplished.
Unfortunately it looks we're going to have to win more games than we play one year soon to keep this going.

Hurley has continually worked his craft, refined his methods and really got a handle on the type of players he needs to build a monster program.

We are so fortunate to see the results of all his hard work. And the work ethic is transfered to his assistant coaches and players. And there is no question that his players love him and respect him. They have the Hurley fire in the belly.
