We have seen South Florida's loss last week. Looking at 1-AA games today, there are many close games in the second half against 1-A teams. I think it goes without saying that no Husky fan or any college football fan wants to start the season with a loss against a 1-AA team but lets not dump on the team already and say the "season" is in the toilet as I see many 1-A teams stuggling this week and these kind of losses "happen" early. I am amazed on how many "so called" Uconn football fans that I work with and know have basically thrown in the towel for the season and have made comments like "they are going to lose 100-0 to Michigan", "they may not win a game this year", "they suck", "they stink", etc. Why do fans so quickly think "the season is over" and "we suck" and "why bother on going to any more games"? What are these fans saying if we come out and beat Maryland?

Many teams struggle in their first games as they have new starters, new coaches, etc. Teams make adjustments after one week and can look totally different and improved in the second week.
Have you not seen a team, any team, come out flat in their first game and lose to a team they are supposed to beat...only to come back the next week and play a solid game and all is forgotten about the first week loss. The complainers go away and now think there is hope again and the fan base is re-energized.

If you sit at home and say "I'm not going" or "the season is in the toilet", then we don't want you at games anyways as you are not a Husky fan. You are only at the games for the tailgating and the beer.

If you are a true Husky fan, get your butt to the game on time, cheer your ass off on every play so you can't talk the next day, get out of your seats on third down, stay until the end of the game, and do what a really Uconn football fan is supposed to do....and that is not to throw in the towel after one game. You should be ashamed of yourselves if I am talking about you. Its "only" 1 game and the season has just begun.

We are going to play better than people think

I agree. Most people think we'll end up 3-9 but I've got us finishing 4-8.

Good news is we see a coaching change and if Warde doesn't hire an exciting, young, up and coming coach, he's gone too.

Much like my golf game, I'll be happy if UConn shows me a few beautiful shots every Saturday. Those will give me faith we're on the right track and keep me coming back every weekend.

Last weeks game was not played in a vacuum. It was a culmination of 25 games of futility. The players have no fire to play for these codgers. I'll still be there, letting P know he stinks. I'll still email Warde and Susan demanding change as we eke out our 2 win season.

I get your point and I'm no scientister but I'm pretty sure last week's game actually WAS held in a vacuum.

It sucked all night from where I was.

Real fans hold people accountable. Real fans post here.
Like when the 6-6 giants wanted coughlins head in 2011 after they lost four games Fans cant hold people accountable. They are too tempermental. .

We'll see how the next two games go, I just don't see a win in there or even a quote-unquote good loss. If we compete and there are signs of improvement in the gameday decisions, and we manage to beat Buffalo and USF, then we can re-evaluate. If we can't beat both then P's fate is irrevocably sealed.

This.

Even if we recover to some extent there is a very good chance that losing this game means no bowl for the 3rd straight year. Towson might actually end up being a great team. But we needed that W.

I get what you're trying to say but there is validity to finding a balance between the pitchfork mob and the steady hand of a manager (GM/AD). It's kind of a standard practice for the GM or AD of a team to do a comprehensive yearly review that includes taking the temperature of the fanbase.

And I'm amazed at the pollyanna rah-rahs with rose colored glasses who don't understand it's not just one game, it's 25. It's like there was never an off season and the team played a week after Cincinnati last December. You think this head coach and his sidekick are capable of making an adjustment? How many times did you read "If I had to do over again" the last week? The only adjustment that's going to happen this week is Friend will be back in the lineup and perhaps that will make a difference on offense.

I feel very badly for the players. I will root hard for them to succeed. I saw the defense succeed most of last season. I saw the offense succeed on one beautiful drive against Towson (after which, just like last year, UConn stopped running plays that were working). I will be in my seat at kickoff and stand up on third down. But when I see obvious coaching errors -- and we've seen the same ones over and over again in the past 25 games -- I'm not going blow it off or pretend I didn't see it or "oh gee try harder next time Coach". 1.6 million reasons why he should be held accountable

I've been watching college football all day (after taking last weekend off) and seen coach after coach with marketable, energetic, media-friendly personalities who are real leaders, which what this program doesn't have and desperately needs.

My hope is Warde made some kind of behind-the-scenes adjustment like moving DeLeone to the top of the Rent where they tape games with no headset and letting Foley talk to the line and TEs when they're not on the field. Anything. I hope the defense is a lot more aggressive re blitzes etc. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they win. But there's a lot of long-time ticket holders who for the first time in memory are not fired up about going to the game. That's the reality.

If it was "only one game", but it isn't.

Paqualoni isn't even trying. That stupid mummy is retired on the job, and he is laughing at the school, the fans and the players.

I'll go as far as to say we'll play better vs. MD than we did against Towson, but that's it, and that's not saying much at all. The constant negativity towards P is more than warranted. He's driven the program into the ground in 2 years and hasn't done a thing to give fans the slightest bit of confidence that things will turn around as long as he's coaching here. Getting pushed around by an FCS team was the icing on the cake. Hence the pessimism and general apathy.

Please leave when Pasqualoni does. You are clearly not a UConn fan.

When Pasqualoni leaves. Please go with him. You are a total fool.
Yeah but...

This team has been crippled by all of the returning starters.
