Why didn't we kneel and then spike to get it to 4th down?Kick it with 3 seconds instead of 16.

Pretty standard. You leave some time on the clock in case of a bad snap, you get another shot at the FG

Should've kneed it on first down, make Maine take a timeout, kneel again, run it down to about 0:05, take our final timeout, kick it on 3rd down. Even if you leave yourself enough time to fumble the snap, recover, call TO and rekick (say 0:07), you at best leave Maine 0:02, and you can squib it downfield and force them to return it in an unplanned formation. I have no idea why they took the TO at 0:16.

From TV, it looked liked Diaco was arguing with a sideline official, may have been the ref misheard Diaco and thought he called a TO when he didn't.

Big difference between enough time to snap it again and leaving enough time for Maine (or any competent team) to run two plays.

Even if it was a mistake, after Maine called their final timeout Diaco could have trotted the offense back out to run a kneel to start the clock again and call TO when the clock got down to 6 or 7

why risk a snap? The whole game was called terribly but I don't disagree with that decision.

Exactly. That would have been the smart play to avoid a possible kickoff runback.

I'm pretty drunk but I swear the TV said we had a timeout left

That is true if they had a timeout left.
