I have a distinct memory of a French player on our roster in the early to mid 90’s. Rarely played, had an exotic name that was pronounced nothing like it was spelled. May have only been around for one season.

Can’t find him on any of the reference sites.

Anyone recollect this player?

That is a great factoid, but no. This would have been late 90’s at the latest.

I don't see anyone. We had a couple American players with French last names (Cornier, LeBlanc) but unless it wasn't an apparent French name. You can use the link to view as many years as you want

Sami Ameziene played in the mid-2000s and became a successful comedian in his native France. That the guy?
Ameziene was actually the back up point in ‘05, when we lost in the second round to NC State in Worcester.

You thinking of Covington Cormier? Don’t think he was French though?

Wow, i vividly remember that team, and especially that game, and that name is completely foreign to me. I wonder how i forgot that.

You sure it wasn't a player on the Women's team?

He didn’t play much. Maybe 4 or 5 minutes a game giving Marcus Williams the minimum rest possible.

This is the worst answer in the history of the Boneyard.

Monquencio Hardnett

Wait, no, this one is.

Update - this is the worst answer in the history of the Boneyard.

Marc Suhr maybe? He was German I believe.

HFS, if there is ever an answer worse than this, I swear to God I will throw myself out a window.

Antric Klaiber doesn't fit the pronounciation part of your question, but maybe?

Either way, a somewhat interesting story follows...

Klaiber v. United States, 471 F. Supp. 3d 696 | Casetext Search + Citator

And there is the ever-enjoyable Boneyard handle @Cassius Klaiber.

Without more information from you, I have no opinion on whether you're crazy or not.

Quite possibly one of the greatest Boneyard posts I've ever read.

Sorry, I have to say you're crazy... Gilad Katz (at least the first name pronounced sounds French) but he was Israeli. Didn't play a lot.

I feel like this thread still has a Justin Srb or a Karsten Kibbe in it before we’re done.

We did recruit a French kid at some point - I cannot remember his name, but I think he opted to stay in France as a pro. We also scouted Ajou Ajou Deng at a youth tournament in France, but he was living in London.

I have absolutely no idea who you might be thinking about.
