And I don't think, in all honesty that Geno ever thought he was getting a "Rivers or Johnson" when he signed Q. With regard to needing a big (who in my mind is a solid 6'2" and above who can play the 4 and/or 5 spots and bang the boards similar to Dorka or Aaliyah}, I have a lot of hope and confidence that Jana meets this need, but as we have seen this year, we need more than one. I'm sorry to mention names but if you aren't convinced that after 2 1/2 years at UCONN, Amari is not capable of filling the need, then we have a serious disagreement. I know injuries keep being cited as the reason why Ayanna was ineffective last year, but her inability to score or rebound for someone coming in with her recruiting rank was very disappointing. I hope that she can prove to be an asset next year, but how much will her year off the court affect her talents? I can only hope that Ice is light years away from becoming what we had hoped/expected and her ineffectiveness this year is the result of her sitting out last year and possibly also an indication that she is not fully recovered from her surgery. Certainly AP and Ice have on common trait-a foul every couple of minutes. Those are 3 scholarships out of our 15 allowed, that we are getting very little from, at the time we needed the quality of top 5 recruits. I hold out hope that Geno has a quiet verbal from Strong and the reason for her not making any college choice announcement is Geno knowing that he will have a scholarship open up. If the Strong choice isn't UCONN then we absolutely need an immediately-ready big out of the portal.
