Good question! It would depend on what the rest of my team looks like. I would take A'ja because se can be a go to scorer, and has more range away from th basket than Turner.

Why do you feel Tuner is more impressive? Turner is a great athlete and a good player but I tend to give the edge to Aja. Aja seems to be equally as good an an athlete but seems to be more skilled creating her own shot and has a longer shooting range. I say "seems" because I saw Turner play the wing effectively in high school. She just had a more limited role on the ND offense.

It will be interesting to see how they develop over the next two to three years because their roles were different on their respective teams. Turner was asked to play defense and played primarily under the basket offensively Aja was asked to be a key offensive contributor when she was on the court getting the ball all over the court. Aja must settle down, find her spots and be more consistent. Turner on the other hand will be asked to play a bigger role in the offense as her career progresses.

Exactly: it's a matter of range. Also, I believe that Aja has a greater variety of shots in close--and she's a bit taller.

I thought she did a better job against Breanna then Aja did. Plus I see more upside in her. Guess I'm not the only one, but I expect it to be close.

Granted, I have not seen a large sampling of either player, but it seems to me that Aja appears to sleep walks thru parts of games. I do not see a full effort when she is in. Not looking for the ball as a top player should. Maybe lack of conditioning or just being a younger player. With her size and skill set, she certainly has a greater upside.

If that's the case (Aja appears to sleep walks thru parts of games) Turner was also MIA (soreless) for the first half of the National Championship game.

I had to check the numbers on this one - Wilson has a slightly better rebounding rate, block rate, and steal rate. She also had a significantly better assist rate and fewer turnovers. Wilson did have the advantage of coming off the bench and SC played a little easier schedule, so I think the rebounding, block, and steal rates are pretty much a wash.

Turner is a more efficient scorer. Turner scored 496 points on 310 attempts. Wilson scored 484 on 328. On the other hand Wilson, is a little more versatile on offense and a better passer.

I do think Turner has "it" in the sense that she rises to the occasion when required and just has a knack for winning. Not sure if Wilson has that or not -- Wilson was certainly excellent in the final four, so she probably does.

Honestly, they are pretty close. I voted Wilson. I just think her potential as an offensive player is much greater and it's nice that she can create her own shot and you can run the offense through her. It will be interesting to see how they develop.

For all the talk of Wilson's potential--which I buy into--Turner's potential is great too. I just keep thinking back to how she destroyed Mavunga at UNC. If she can play like that more regularly, she can be as good as anyone in the country.

This is a tough one having only had the chance to see them play vs Stewie. Turner held her own, Wilson not so much but in the long term I think I would go for Wilson just because she seems more willing to be and embrace a star player role. Both though will have great careers.

She's a guard/forward just like Wilson is guard/forward, which is to say that neither of them are guards.
Quick update: South Carolina has given up the scam (Wilson is a Guard) on the '15-16 roster she is listed as F. Last year Wilson was listed as a G/F on the roster & actually got her first start at SG. Even today Duke persists in the scam and continues to list Stevens as a F/G on the official roster. Both are closer to being centers than they are guards but I recognize a scam when I see one.

Which categories ?

Wilson had a better rebound rate, block rate, and steal rate. She scored more points in fewer minutes and on fewer shots. She had a better FG%, eFG%, and FT%.

With the rate stats, I think you do have to consider that Stevens started and played 9 more minutes per game, on average. Wilson may not have been able to sustain those rates with less rest.

Still, Wilson scored more points, blocked more shots and had only 29 less rebounds in 216 fewer minutes.

There were a few brief stretches last year when Stevens played guard....... but that was out of necessity. That wont happen this season.

In all seriousness, Stevens's statistical profile is similar to Wilson's but but Wilson has her beat in most categories.
All kidding aside I would have no issues adding Stevens to this discussion along with Chatrice White of Illinois and Alexa Hart of OSU as the five most impactful bigs in class of 2014.

All these stats. But what does the eye test say? Stevens scores in "multiple" ways when aja does more of her consistent damage inside. I'm not saying Stevens is a better overall player BUT in terms of being a F/G Stevens is ahead of BOTH Turner and Wilson. And I don't need stats to remind me what I saw the past 6-8 months of the 3. My actual EYES have seen the 3 play.
