I use Chat GPT and Up word. Anyone recommend or like any free AI Tools and what do you use them for? Curious

My guess is most sites claiming to use AI are full of crap. Ancestry.com being one example. Look like all they did was tinker with their search engine.

Is that really any faster/better than Google?
Not really, but it's simpler if I'm just looking for quick inspiration. And I don't have to scroll through someone's life story to get to the recipe at the bottom.

It CAN be better if I have a more complicated thing in mind or something that is a bit harder to google, like want to use ingredient A without having ingredient B that are often paired together in recipes and not having to "-" out various spellings of an ingredient i want to omit or whatever.

Switched to Gemini after the boys on the all in podcast reviewed it.
Using it most recently for some college research (grandson)
Output is a nice concise recap of every data point you’ve requested.

My co-worker buddy heavily used AI to write his end-of-year reports and got caught. Slap on the wrist.

Also, it's hilarious when kids use AI for online assignments in math class and I just call it as I see it. During a parent/student/teacher conference, I flat out asked a seventh grader in front of their parents, so XX, I noticed your assignment was finished in a totally unsustainable pace and I'm curious what tools you used to make this happen?

What type of end of year report was your co-worker using AI for to help him with or do for him?

Two things about generative AI are true: 1) It is the most significant innovation since the widespread adoption of the mobile device; 2) it is replete with hucksters and carnival barkers who haven't the slightest clue what they're talking about

I use it every day at work. It writes code for me. Quite elegantly I might add. It is so much more than the search engine stuff be tossed around in here.

Don’t know much about AI just hoping we don’t find out our last two seasons were AI generated

Same here. At this point it writes most of my code.

I've started using GPT instead of Google. Google steers you to buy something. GPT just gives you an answer.

Do you need to program it to write your code? Like using a higher level language to develop assembly code?

I’m interested in the tool(s) and high level view as well. I’m software developer eager to learn more.

Go play around with it and you will very quickly see how valuable it is in writing code.

chatgpt.com gemini.google.com

'write me python files that stand up a flask endpoint and have different routes separated into different files'

It's like Stack Overflow on steroids, but it's only as good as you are specific in your prompt.
