backcourt had some sloppy turnovers but otherwise absolutely killed it

bazz 8/13(5-7 3fg) 28pts 7reb 4ast
boat 7/11(2-4 3fg) 17pts 4reb 6ast
omar 7/11(2-5 3fg) 17pts 5reb 4ast

I mean mason union capable, this is sooooooo enjoyable.

We shot 60% tonight. Yeah, that's right. And 50% from the arc.

YIKES!

Yup those games were hard to watch when no one could hit the rim in our halfcourt sets. Of course when we could run it was always pretty.

With Bazz, Boat, Omar, Niels, and DD we could put out a lineup of 5 good 3 pt shooters that could also compete in other facets of the game. Not sure if we've ever had that before. TO was heralded as a 3 pt shooter coming in. Never seen that materialize though, he does hit his mid range jumpers when he gets them though.

How about our 75% FT avg. I can't remember a Uconn team nearly that good.

I love the 3 guard line up...DD gives us a real mismatch at the 4. If we had a Emeka-like presence at the 5 (rebound and block shots) this was be a team that could vie for a NC.

Sophisticated half court offense was never JC's forte, Ollie has upgraded the team's offensive design, plus the players aren't afraid to miss anymore.
JC ran a complicated, pro-style offense. When you didn't have PGs or wings used to it, the offense looked ugly. And he just let them play through it (probably to help reinforce the defense). But if you don't think our HC offense was sophisticated when we had players who could run it, go back and look at some of the great Ray Allen-Sheffer-KO teams, or the 1999 team, or when Caron figured it out, or 2004. Hell, we were great in the half-court in 2005 and 06 with Marcus Williams running the show.

The problem is that as there started being more turnover, we had some really ugly years. If KEA stayed his senior year when Taliek came, the transition would have been seamless; if Marcus Williams came back in 2007, or had AJ not had AVM, we wouldn't have had a problem them.

Our league ranking, conference games only:
Assists 1st
3 pt% 1st
FG% 3rd
FT% 1st
Scoring offense #2
3pt made #1

This is just stunning.
