over this Syracuse/Pitt to the ACC news, here is the sitation:
Everyone has always said that the end state in all of this is four 16 team superconferences. It is not a matter of if, but instead when. That is not disputed by anyone. It looks like this round of expansion is going to take most of the conferences to 14 teams (unless something happens soon which pushes everyone to 16 now...but unlikely...they seem to go in 2 team increments). But we all know eventually, they will go to 16 teams.
When we eventually get to 16 team conferences, there is very little chance that UConn gets left out. UConn will end up either in the 16-team ACC (most likely scenario) or in a 16-team Big Ten.
It may be a very nervous next 5-10 years until that finally happens. It may be painful in the short term and we may have to put up with conference games against Iowa St/Baylor/etc. But in the end, we will be OK and end up in one of the 'Power Coferences'. We are in a much better situation then Iowa St/Baylor/Cincinnati/etc. We will be fine as much as the ship seems to be sinking right now.
Just take a step back and think about it. It may seem like we have no hope right now, but if you relax and think about it, we will be fine.
So there may be times I feel like jumping off a building in this situation and the end of UConn is near...but eventually we will be OK.
